What is WRONG with people

So I was watching some talk news show and they did a segment on shelter animals. Well, they had the cutest little chiwawa (i know i spelled that wrong)  dog on the show that had apparently been relinquished because the dogs hair didn't match the color of the previous owners carpet...???!!! Seriously, what is wrong with people!  >:( That just really annoyed me, I had to share.

That kind of stuff makes me really angry, I could never work in a shelter because I could not hold back if someone told me that. That is why when I have volunteered in the past I have just walked the dogs or picked up the poo!! ;)b

oh my god, that kind of stuff makes me SO SO SO Mad. why the hell do humans think they're the shit? because they have thumbs? because we created technology? please. we are animals.

There is these two guys in my PE class that I seriously have a watch on. I heard one of them talking a few days ago and he was like "Yeah, I *ucking hate cats, blah blah blah" and I was like, "why do you hate cats? i think they're cute and sweet" and he goes, "I just *ucking hate them. I beat mine all the time. That piece of shit. It's so annoying. Meowing all the time"

WOW I got SOOOOO mad at him. I started yelling at him saying how couldyou do that to a living creature, you have seriously bad karma coming to you, animals have feelings etc.

his friend also chimed in while he was saying that, and he goes "Oh yeah, i hate cats, I spray mine in the face with the hose all the time"

WTF?????!!!!!!! omg. i am getting so mad just thinking about it.

So then yesterday, we went on a hike with the class. It was a really long hike, we were all tired and irritable, and he (the first guy) started saying some fucked up things.

Like, "when we get to the bottom of this hill I'm going to find the nearest baby and kill it." I really thik that kind of shit is messed up....even as a joke, it's like, why? Find another thing to parody into an angry joke, but not another living being.

He says things like that all the time, too. Earlier on that walk something was annoying him and he goes "I'm going to find that guys sister and rape her". wow, this guy is seriously going to be a serial killer someday. Like, I have no problem at all reporting him to people. ugh. we need to do something about those type of people. badly.

Killing babies and raping sisters?!  I think somebody needs a reality check.  Sledgehammers generally do the trick for such checks.
In all seriousness, stay away from that guy.

I think you should go to your school's leadership over those comments...or the police and animal control.

For future reference, memorise the emergency number of the nearest psych ward/hospital--and give him that as "your" number. Just to keep him crazy.

They were obviously winding you up, but I think they've stripped a few gears in the old brainbox.

YG- I like the psych ward number idea  :D

I know that they were saying the things about the cats to sound tough, but I also know that they weren't joking....like, i and several other people went on about it and there is no way that he was making any of it up. He IS the type of guy that would lie about it, but in this case I know he wasn't. Really now, he is definitely NOT the sharpest tool in the box.

For six years, I worked at a medium-sized (6,000 animals turned in per year), open-admission shelter (we could not turn anyone bringing in their pet away even when the shelter was full, meaning animals might be euthanized if there was no space for the next one)-- You would think people would take it very seriously to bring in their pet, but... I never actually heard that "reason" for surrendering a dog for not matching the carpet, but I did hear some memorable ones!

It was so frustrating when people would drop off their pet like it was just another bothersome errand to be taken care of, and not the heartbreaking decision it really is.  I always felt that if everyone who couldn't or wouldn't keep their pet would only use the shelter as a last resort and try every other option first, then maybe the ones that really had nowhere to go would have time to be adopted-- the animals whose people could not control their situation, like landlord problems, domestic violence, fires, illness, death...

Not like these reasons I heard:
A couple turned their cat in because he hid from their other 2 cats and didn't come out to play often enough.

A woman turned her dog in because the kids wouldn't clean up the yard after him. (Uh, yeah, that'll teach them a lesson.)

Another woman turned in her dog because she was too "progressive" of her dogbed.  (I think she meant "protective."  Doesn't make it any better.)

And finally, a man solemnly signed over his cat, saying he was afraid the cat would scratch out his eyes while he slept.

I have a great deal of respect for those who have volunteered or worked in a shelter (and those who faced the overwhelming rows of kennels and adopted one!), as well as anyone who has ever had to grit their teeth and remain professional in the face of such ignorance.

People come up with all kinds of stupid reasons way they have to take there animals in.  They like cute puppies  but when it comes time to train them they don`t and end up with something they call a bad dog. but it is just bad owners , I say. Then the dog grows up knowing nothing but yelled at or sometimes beaten. Then they are brought in because they are a so called bad dog.

ya, i use to volunteer at an animal rescue and I heard them all. It just makes me physically ill that people disgard animals like a couch or a cup.... I mean it's a living thing that feels pain and fear. It just pisses me off so much! The two worst things in the world to me are 1. child abuse/neglect and 2 animal abuse/neglect because in both cases the victim of abuse is helpless and trusting of the abuser  >:( >:( >:( >:(

That's terrible..hope it gets adopted.

I was at the shelter one day and this husky was in there because the "owner woke disrupted it while it was sleeping and it bit him".  I mean, the dog was sleeping.  Total bummer, and because of that there was a slim chance it would have been rescued.
