Is Whole Foods worth it?

I do not have a Whole Foods in my town. Yeah, we suck. The nearest one is 1.5 hrs away, which is also the home of the ONLY vegan restaurant in our state. In a few months my husband and I are gonna have a day out away from the kids. His mom is going to watch them from morning until next morning and we get a hotel room and spend the day out. Would it be worth the 1.5 hour drive to do some whole foods shopping? We would also prob have lunch at the vegan restaurant, too. I always see people talking on here about buying nooch and seeds and stuff there. I can only get nooch at the local health food store, and it is slim pickens there. What do you think? I have no idea what all they have.
(the main reasons i go there is for the ny, quinoa and silken asceptic packs of tofu.. for some reason no other grocery store in my area carries shelf stable tofu.. wtf chicago??)
have you looked at asian stores for the tofu? i get mine from the asian supermarket by me (dunno if youve heard of mitsuwa in arlington heights..its way cool. they have vegan jello mix too!) and its wayyy cheaper than the grocery store and whole foods
Where is this store in AH? I am only a short drive away and would love some vegan jello!
I actually shop at Whole Foods because a number of foods there cost less than at the major supermarkets ... chocolate chips, rolled oats, baking flours, fruit preserves, peanut butter, some canned products, flax seed oil, agave nectar, coconut oil, some cereals and crackers. (Look for that 365 organic brand).
I've also gotten soy milk, Earth Balance and some veggie "meats" on sale there in the past.
Yams, potatoes, tomatoes and greens do tend to be more expensive there, though.

Well. Whole Foods. When the ginormous WF about 45 minutes from us opened, bookpapa and I went there EVERY Saturday on a "date" to do our shopping. It was a wonderland of beautiful food with soooooo many options; and the samples were bountiful and yummy. Even better, the people were wonderful. I have never experienced customer service that good ANYwhere. Ever.
Then they started not having some of the products we had gotten used to purchasing there. Then the personnel changed and the customer service began to slip. Then the "happy meat" campaign began in earnest. Bookpapa and I became disillusioned and moved as much of our business as we could to the food co-op in Atlanta--another 'bout half hour away. Now we go to the co-op first and if we can't find it there, we go back by WF. There ARE some awfully good deals on their 365 store brands so we do still get those and their choice in produce is way more vast, but not as local as the co-op. And, yes, WF is expensive.
All that said, though, it's an experience everyone should have at least once. I say go check it out and then decide...
... and they bury crystals in their store foundations.
Huh? crystals? I don't get it, why would you want to do that? ???
SnowQueen,
It is just a method of focusing energy. A lot depends on your belief system. Here is a decent FAQ on the subject, but if you google "energy crystals", you'll find a lot of information, from the grounded to the bizarre.
