Yabbit update

Well I had my first 6 mos checkup since starting thyroid supplements and things are getting better. The cholesterol, while still high, is lower than it was. And my thyroid, while still low, is in the "normal to low" range.

The proof of the pudding came during our major (for us) home renovations that started Jan 2 and just ended; ripping out the bathroom, redoing it, plaster, paint, and a new built-in wardrobe. All of which entailed a lot of moving and sorting of junk etc., all the while we are trying to live (and give tutoring sessions!) in among the mess. And I survived! Yes, I sometimes felt as tired as if I'd done it all myself, but this was AFTER I had moved  25 years worth of junk, sorted junk, tossed junk, and cleaned up after messy painters and plasterers. Not after going to the supermarket or ironing a basket of clothes, like before!

I haven't weighed since about Easter and I'm not bothered; first because in among all the hassle there were a lot of "pick up what you can get" meals, and minimum purposeful exercise. Second because I was too tired and disorganised to care. This Saturday I officially start over, looking after myself better. But it is done, all but new curtains and there's no hurry on that count! The house looks much nicer. Our apt faces north and has a tower block in front of my windows (great urban planning!) so we went with a pale vanilla paint for the walls, which with artificial light in the evening looks very warm and comforting.
So, chapter 2. Hope all out there are doing well.

Whoo Hoo!  I hate house renovations but I love how everything looks and feels when they are finished.  Plus it sounds like your health issues are on the path to all bettersville!

It's great to hear that things are looking up for you! Cholesterol and thyroid trends in the right direction, and renovations working great - that's great news.

I do hope tho that that "proof in the pudding" is a nice, tofu pudding!  ;)

Yabbit,
I hope and trust that all is well and will be normal and functional soon.  Renovations are a bitch, but oh so worth it.  For what it's worth, I think (being the interior designer that I am) that it is a worthwhile investment of pain, time, energy and money, primarily because it makes you love your spot in which you spend so much of your time.  Folks spend so much effort on what they buy but so little on the environment they dwell  in....

Congratulations and be well.

Of course, like this one, f'rinstance: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=11924.0
Yumbles--simple and quick and tasty, my favourite!

@ Tweety, yes I did. And the gen consensus seems to be I can eat soy, just not for breakfast, and not every day. Which makes sense.

Keep up the good work - externally and internally - Yabbit!

Funny, I always picture you wandering around a small, dreamy village, picking up funky, fresh ingredients, passing adobe homes, cobblestone streets, orchards.....I dunno. This whole "my window looks onto a wall" is really putting a damper on your pedestal :)

But really, keep up all of the good work!

Well, I don't give up on the poss of moving to a village, but this town is OK. I used to think Seville was a city until I went to Chicago! :O No, it's just a nice-sized town, small enough to use mass-transit or walk in comfortably, big enough to have about everything a non-driver needs. I just wish they hadn't closed the British Institute Library!!

Funky fresh ingredients we have, especially since the shops started catering more to the immigrants from Asia, Africa and LA. And good seasonal fruit and veg. You have us beat on variety, though. I've never seen a Portobello mushroom to speak to it.
