Ok so maybe I'm just a weirdo, but there's silly little things that really bug me for no apparent reason - what about the rest of you? Is there any little thing that really annoys you, but probably shouldn't that much?
Ok I'll start:
I hate it when peolpe jiggle their legs up and down when they're sitting down. Some people will do this continually and I HATE IT. There's no logic to my annoyance but it really bugs me.
It also bugs me when women put their make up on on public transport - just wake up earlier if you want to wear it - and don't give people dirty looks when they stare at you.
you're right, guys. and i've been distancing myself from her for a while. and yabbit, i love "emotional vampire"! haha
Mirrya, that REALLY sux! Being unemployed/semi-retired/whatever what I miss the least was this kind of non-work-related politics. It was largely the reason my career ended - this type of thing not this exactly - after 15 years of dedicated service.
Anyway, you know WRGMG? I face the same BS as a volunteer now! I have volunteered at a drug-alcohol treatment center for nearly a year - don't get me wrong, I am not a humanitarian, I do it primarily because of what I get out of it. I have never taken a dime in all this time, nor do I want one, and have been cussed at and threatened many times by many impatients, etc.
So today I hear there is a BBQ this saturday for memorial day- kinda a bogus holiday, if you ask me, but that is another story. One of the staff invites me to the BBQ. I thanked her but said that I better talk with the president to see that it is ok, thinking that there was absolutely no way that it would not be 100% ok, but covering my bases and also not leaving the impression that I wanted to attend as a "couple" with the very nice lady who asked me.
So, went to the president's office and asked if they needed any help for the event and if so I would be happy to attend. She had the gall to say that she would have to ask the board of directors. I graciously agreed that this would be best and I would call the chairman to confirm. What was going through my mind but I didn't say was: "Listen, lady, I am the treatment center chairman for this entire district in Tennessee, I knew those "board of directors" back when they were all useless blind drunks themselves and partied with all of them LONG before they ever met and hired you. In fact if I called the chairman of the board of this facility on your phone right now and told him it was between you and me going, you'd have a long, lonely weekend! But on second thought I don't want to stand around in the heat and smell animal flesh searing at your event anyway!"
Sheesh, the gratitude. Anyway, I'm the one with a long weekend of dealing with these thoughts and feelings, cause I wouldn't go now if they sent a limo to pick me up. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest!
mirrya that is insane!!! i guess i'm fortunate to have decent coworkers... a lot of times they see what i order and copy me!! people like that bug, seriously... even when i was an omnivore i was always down to try new things! and to outcast you because you don't eat certain foods is probably the lamest thing i have ever heard! i wish i could throw some blows at these morons for you!
cff - Is it because you volunteer instead of get a salary? Where I work, volunteers and students would be first on the event list. Sounds like a fun workplace. :-|

She said that she was joking and that I took it too seriously. I replied to her that it didn't sound like a joke to me and then I walked out of her office. She hasn't spoken to me since nor have any of the other women in the department either. My boss is a huge gossiper so I'm sure she's told everybody what I said to her. I don't feel it's a big loss.
After all this happened my twin sent me a big bouqet of flowers and signed it "Alex". She knows my boss loves to gossip and thinks it's probably killing her wanting to know why I got them but too pissed off at me to ask.

H_H: I think it is good old fashioned CYA politics. Strange that this happens at non profits just like in the private sector, where I have always worked in the past. But I can only speculate. On my side, it is: expectations are pre-meditated resentments ;) Funny thing I would have been perfectly happy not knowing that there was a BBQ this weekend, but now that I know it is driving me mad that I can't go. People who get jobs in my store ahead of me with more pay who are horrible workers and know nothing and lie and roll their eyes and are stupid jerks.
This stupid new girl in my frame shop is such a stupid whore. I really want to punch her. I can't work with her. She had a drink IN the frame shop. where there is ART WORK that cannot be replaced. Yup, lets all go and spill open cans of red soda on art. Cool story. She rolls her eyes every 4 seconds at me and AT CUSTOMERS. She threw away stuff that we had in there that was OURS.
And, shes prying into my life and belittling my relationship with Preston.
I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm like 16, because thats how she treats me. And, she keeps the work counters totally messy all day. The ones that customers use and the ones that we use. Which is freaking stupid. She even pointed it out today and I just told her she could put stuff away as she goes and she said she does that already. LOL. Every single tool was out on her side of the workshop. NOPE.
I just really want to slap her. It sucks being stuck in a tiny tiny room all day with some one who acts like shes 16 and better than everyone. Oh AND she might be the new framing manager.

I'm going in early to warn the only other framer left (whos been there 13 years and doesn't put up with people who act like this) about her and tell my old framing manager (now assistant manager) about how ridiculous it's been working with her.
When people purposely litter. I was going home last night and passed this guy who was eating something out of a wrapper. He takes the wrapper off and threw the wrapper directly onto the ground. Seriously?? There's a trash can a block from you! >:(

A noteworthy rash of littering sprung up after February's earthquake here - apparently every time some douchebag spots a sink hole in the pavement, it must be littered into. :boooo:
