i've been interested in longboarding for a little while now, and i recently bought a longboard off the interwebz.
and i have to say.. GREAT investment. i'm in love!
heads turn when i'm riding it down the street. in fact, the first time i took it out, a guy followed me on his bike and chatted me up. gave me his info so i could give him a shout.
it's also a GREAT workout, without feeling like a workout. i was riding it for over an hour and a half today and it felt like 5 minutes.
i'm SO sore from using it after only 2 days! i am a fit person who can run for a solid hour barely breaking a sweat but i was sweating within the first 10 minutes riding this thing.
does anyone else longboard?
I'm jealous. I used to work on a University campus and skating was a great way to get around even though some people frowned on a middle aged middle manager skating (they are just jealous because they are too out of shape to do it).
I'm an old time skater (check my profile pics). I ride a good sized board now but I took my boy down to get a new deck a while back and spotted the sweetest longboard. I wanted it. The salesgirl almost talked me into it. But I could not justify since I really have nowhere to ride it now.
:'(
Man. I've wanted a longboard for a while. I have faith that I will be able to not fall and die on one (as opposed to my poopy skateboarding skills). I'm hoping a cheap one will pop up somewhere.
I have long-board surfed and its super fun! I think those longboard/skateboards look really cool! I bet they would be fun too!
Man. Now I really want one again. Haha. I got myself to forget about them for a while. I wish they didn't cost so much!
P has a longboard that he used quite a bit for a while. He hasn't used it in about a year, though. He liked it. He got his for around $100.

oh my god , you are so cool! ;D
let those people frown because you are right, they are just jealous! the pic of you doing the handstand on the board is impressive.
go back for the longboard! FIND somewhere to ride it because they are amazing and and... ahem.. much better than your run of the mill skateboard ^-^
(no disrespect to skateboarders, they just haven't seen the light)

they are very similar i hear. someone told me longboarding and surfing are closer than snowboarding and/or skateboarding
so fun :D
sarah - DO it
ally - STEAL it
hehehe
This is what I ride (although not me in the pic).. I've had it for about 5 years and definitely gotten my money's worth.

Having the 2 wheels eliminates speed wobble going downhills, and we live in the mountains so there's a lot of hilly places. It's a lot like snowboarding, except not as easy to stop :-\ you just need to make sure there's no stopsigns and work your way up to feel comfortable. I've had few crashes
My fiance rides an arbor hybrid longboard of the 4 wheeled variety.. about 37cm. My board is 42cm. She fell due to speed wobble and has the scars to prove, on the same hill I shred with ease.
Longboarding and mountain biking are how we deal with snowboarding withdrawals. Another offshoot of longboarding I want to try is the freebord.. check it out. The company that makes mine is called tierney ride
