Question about Vitamin D

This isn't about me, but my mum. She has recently been diagnosed with osteopenia, and has decided that she wants to switch to a vegan diet (yay!). But anyways, she also has recently learned that her vitamin D levels are low, and her doctor wants her on a drug like boniva or one of those other osteoperosis meds. Mum would rather take a holisitic approach and take suppliments and increase the amount of calcium and vitamin D in her diet. Does anyone have any suggestions on a particular D suppliment to take (like brand wise. I think she said she needs D2 and D3) or where to get them. :-\
Deva makes vegan D vitamins
yup, deva.
also, sunlight. 20 minutes a day for a pale-skinned person on a sunny day.
I love how there's a vegan version of almost everything!
the kids' chewable rhino-vits contain D3....I called the company to see what the source is and they say "algae".....so I guess there is a vegan vitamin D3. Everything on the net says choliceferol (sp) is from animal skin (sheeps wool). I guess I just have to trust the company!
