RAVE diet

I have read the RAVE Diet book and watched the "Eating" DVD. Actually, it was watching the DVD that converted me to a veggie lifestyle.
It is 100% vegan, but advertises as being plant-based (as to make it clear no junk food, oils, etc) Anyway, I just wondered if anyone has heard of this and follows this diet.
I've gained some weight lately and was thinking about adapting this diet 100%. I'm the maid of honor in my sister's wedding in March and I'll like to lose about 20 lbs before then. This seems like a good way to do it, this diet appears to be extremely health. Thought? Comments? Input?
Hey deuceo I haven't read this book and I've never heard of it before you mentioned it, but I will say that within the last month I have pretty much been living off a plant based diet. Mainly eating veggies, fruits and nutritious grains and pretty much cut off the majority of junk food, it wasn't really a conscious decision it kind of just happened, and I've already lost 4 pounds. So if you're healthy about it I say go for it! :)
The website doesn't really offer much in the way of details and sample menus, but it sounds healthy enough. Similar the the thrive diet, which is super healthy.
What do you mean when you say no oils? Because oils are essential and healthy for us when we eat the right kinds...

This diet does not use any oils at all. I think I'm going to try it. Before I went veggie, I omitted the oil in all my cooking recipes. Since I went veg*n, I have made all recipes as is, that being I use all the oil the recipe calls for. And now a lot of my pants are too tight :( That is not the only reason I've gained some weight. I have also discovered VCTOTW. ::)
Here is what the RAVE stands for:
No Refined foods
No Animal foods
No Vegetable oils
No Exceptions
& Exercise
Here are some more main points:
Always eat foods as close to their natural state as possible.
Always eat whole foods.
Eat a variety of colorful foods.
Try to eat at least half of your food uncooked, without any dips or toppings.
A salad is an ideal meal.
Never cook with salt.
Take a multivitamin.
Avoid packaged "snack" foods like the plague.
Water should always be your beverage of choice.
A tablespoon of ground flaxseed should be a part of your daily diet.
When eating out, order whatever is on the menu, but ask them to leave out the bad stuff by following the RAVE diet rules.
Here is a little preview of the film:

I am leary about the no oils thing...we need them to live. One theory is that if our body knows we aren't going to be getting any fats through food, it will hold on to it in the form of body fat. Sounds like you're going to do it anyway though, just be careful.
Well it recommends a Tablespoon of ground flax, so that's good. What about nuts & seeds? are beans & soy ok? I think it is ok for a base diet, but tough to follow. I would ideally like to eat like this, but include more protein. But I cheat a lot. I like to go out to resturants & bars & friends houses. It would be really hard for me to eat a very strict diet.
I see your point, CYETS. I think I will phase out a lot of the oils I use, but not eliminate them completely. Oils like olive and hemp are good for you. But I'll follow the rest of this diet to the letter. I seriously need to stomp out my addiction to pringles and vegan cupcakes! Thanks for your concern :)

The recipes use soy, beans, lentils and other plant-based protein. Nets and seeds are definitely included. I agree, this does seem to be a euthopian-like diet. But lately, I feel like I've been a junkatarian! I need a jump start in the right direction.
Good- go for it!! Just don't beat yourself up if you cheat once & a while.
2 cents: Try it. If you don't feel good, adapt it to something more workable.

Haha. I love it. That's what I will call my "veggie" acquaintance who "doesn't eat vegetables.... :o :D
Good luck!! I was concerned as well until I read you were including nuts and seeds. I'm adamently opposed to any diet that attempts to eliminate either carbs, fat or protein. We need all three in the right type of foods and whole foods being the best.
Hmmm... well, I'm of the mind that anything that makes you more conscious of the food you're eating and incorporates low saturated/no trans-fats and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables is a reasonable diet. I think there are quite a few diets that prescribe this.
If I want to lose weight, I just do a strict calories-in/calories-out count. I gain weight in the off-season (who'd think 1 doughnut would be 7 pounds?), and I always hit my racing weight on time doing it this way.
Yeah- I'm all for it if you're eating your healthy fats. :)
