duncan hines frosting?

So I bought a jar of Duncan Hines Creamy Homestyle Classic Vanilla frosting, not seeing anything non-vegan in the ingredients. Then when I got home, I noticed that it has a "D" next to the kosher symbol on the front, which usually means dairy, right? there are "natural flavors" in the ingredients, so maybe they're dairy-based? however, this exact frosting is on PETA's "accidentally vegan" list (http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/VeganShoppingQS-Baking.asp?Category=Baking), so now I'm confused...doesn't having the "D" on front definitely mean that it has dairy? has anyone contacted duncan hines about this? and should I just blindly trust what peta says? please help, I was planning to use this on a christmas cake!
awesome, thanks for the help!
