"good" vegan cheese is almost like an oxy-moron, heheheh.

There some "sliced cheeses" that i've tried that i did like though - one name that comes to me off the top of my head is "tofutti".

There are also some vegan "block" cheeses that i've enjoyed.  I forget the brand, but they say on the front "it can be melted" (or something to that affect) and i've actually had success w/that too.

in a recent Vegetarian Times magazine, there was a few recipes on how to make vegan cheese.  They looked great, although i haven't tried any yet.  Let me know if you'd them and i'd be happy to scan and email to you.

I only like the Follow Your Heart melted. It does smell pretty nasty (sometimes I try to get someone else to grate it for me heh) but the smell goes away after it gets yummy and melty in the oven.  The cheddar is weird, but I like the mozzarella and monterrey jack.

FYH mont. jack shredded on pizza with a little olive oil brushed on top of it is pretty great!

Yeah, the Follow Your Heart is the only kind of cheese I like....I think the mozzarella and monterrey jack are pretty much the same thing, but you're right, the cheddar is kinda weird.  And I always melt it in a saucepan before I put it on anything....otherwise it won't melt....ever....

I thought that the follow your heart cheddar lacks taste... and at almost $5 a block I want taste. I love the mozz though. It tastes the same to me. I also like the galaxy brand slices. I have a coupon listed in the coupon section. You have to be careful though and only get the packages that say vegan. I made this mistake and got a pack with casein which I cant begin to understand the people that make vegetarian cheese with animal ingredients. Why bother. If a vegetarian will eat veggie cheese with casein they might as well just go for the real deal, right?

If you all don't mind, I'm going to add some of these reviews to the dairy alternative review thread (the first link ppc posted).

Hey - I don't believe there was ever mention of Sir Didymus having his own personal portable "BoES" :) (stops!  sniff - clean!  turns head - sniffs side 2 - clean! check! check!) - no, no mention indeed....

you think that's bad...caught my Loki licking the shower curtain one time - yum!...(which gives me a great idea for a new thread....)
