Morning Star Farms ... Again ;-)

Hi, all! My newly turned vegan dh LOVES morning star farms grillers and the crumbles. It broke his heart when I pointed out that they are not vegan. Is there any way to duplicate? I have read in a few places that they used to be vegan and tasted the same as now. I think Kellogg's must have a contract with a big farm somewhere since they are now changing several products to become NON vegan. (sigh!) Anyone else have this stubborn it-can't- be- as- good- unless- it's- this- specific- product problem? Otherwise known as the "I'm new at this, give me a break" situation? LOL! Joyce
Boca crumbles are just as good, and gardein is even better than morningstar farms for chicken fingers & cutlets in my opinion

I don't buy premade faux products but I can tell you that if you take extra firm tofu - press the water out for a few hours, even overnight works great. Crumble into desired pieces and toss with enough cornstartch to thoroughly coat them, you'll have something thats about the same. I season mine with garlic powder, onion powder, shoyu (soy sauce), red pepper flakes, black pepper, and some sorta green like parsley or chives. Cook until crunch and brown over medium to medium-high. Takes 10-15 minutes. Not only is this like 1/3rd of the price, no extra funky chemicals. YAY :)>>>
