Quinoa = stomach ache?

Hey y'all! For two nights in the last month, separated by at least a week, I've been kept up all night with stomach pains, which generally subside on their own by about six in the morning.  :-[ The only common denominator was that I ate quinoa for dinner. I buy it bulk from my co-op, so I was thinking maybe I got a bad batch? My girlfriend didn't get sick at all either time. It seems too sporadic to be a virusy thing. Anyone else have a similar experience? Am I suddenly quinoa-intolerant? I have eaten it many times before this without incident. wtf?

weird....
did you rinse it multiple times? I haven't made any yet (it's always on the agenda) but i've heard rinsing 3+ times is a big deal

........ maybe the bin held something else previously that you are allergic to?

Are you sure it's the stomach?  My DH had "stomach pains" that would go away after several hours and it happened only a few times over the past year or so.  He always assume it was something he had eaten.  Then the attack got bad enough to take him to the emergency room and two days after that he had to have his gall bladder removed.

I'd skip the quiona for the next month or so and see what happens.  If you don't have an attack and are craving quiona, then try it and rinse the heck out of it before you cook it!

If you've eaten it before w/o problems I'll guess you know how important it is to rinse it thoroughly. So my guess would be that you picked up something nasty as a result of it coming from a bulk bin. I've had to give up bulk bin shopping because I'm am often hit by severe digestive upset that I can directly relate to the consumption of something I got from a bulk bin. (I do buy bulk product still but only from my organic grocer who keeps her products in controlled conditions and packages it for the customers (in varying set amounts in resealable baggies).
