I am in the market for a juicer. I don't mind paying a couple hundred $'s for one if it is just really good. I would rather buy one nice nice one rather than a few cheap ones. KWIM? Any suggestions?
I have a small Black and Decker that I paid under $40 and it works fine for what I need it to do. It juice pretty good and cleans up easily. I've had mine about 6 months I think and have never had a problem with it.
A good middle quality brand is Champion. A Champion will run $200 - $250. There are more brands up the price scale that are supposed to juice in such a way that you can refrigerate juice overnight and not lose nutrients, but they're ginormous. If I had one, I'd never get it out of the cupboard. A Champion is good and is sized on the larger end of "normal."
It's a personal choice for me, but I avoid Black & Decker products because the company is not particularly environmentally responsible. My parents bought me a B&D juicer and it works fine, though. I don't use it much, because for me touching a B&D product is like being near meat. Same dry heave reaction.
i got mine for free from someones garage and it works fine. i think it is a juiceman?
I wouldn't buy one NEW!
Go to your local thrift store or look on Ebay. I bet you can get a good one for cheep. This is how I buy almost all my appliances. But then again, I am used to being poor, and this is how I grew up, everything came from garage sales or thrift stores.

One of my close friends has this, and it is fabulous!! We did a ton of juicing last year, and it was super easy, and a reallly crazy easy clean-up. I highly recommend it.
Or dumpster hustle odwalla...
my last run was over in $500 retail... :)>>>

I used to have a Juiceman. I loved it and when I got my Breville Juice Fountain Plus, I sold my Juiceman to my friends in Michigan for $25.00. They love it. It wasn't the junior but can't remember what model it was. Hate to say I haven't used my Breville and have had it for a couple of years. I just googled and boy has it come down in price.
When my kitchen is eventually finished, I will start using my Breville.
I have heard Juiceman, Champion, Breville and Jack Lalane (spelled wrong) are good.
The juice you can make and the combinations is unbelievable. They are so yummy!
Here's a comparison of them. I looked into juicers before and the juicer you buy has a lot to do with what you want to juice (fruit or wheatgrass), how it juices (there are various methods), the juice yield, multifunctional, etc.

ITA with trying Ebay - i get tons of used and NEW things on ebay for good prices. i still buy plenty of things at retail - but almost everything is available somewhere at a discount.
Way back in the day, I had a Champion juicer which I ended up using mainly to make softserve banana "ice cream." Back in the day (more recently) I had a Juiceman juicer. My objection to all juicers is that you have to use a butt-load of fruits and veggies to end up with one glass of juice and you also end up with a butt-load of pulp. That's expensive and you don't even get the benefit of the fiber. I didn't compost at the time and couldn't make enough stuff with the pulp to keep from wasting it. :( I don't juice any more, although the instructions with my Vita-Mix say that you can put whole fruits and veggies in it (seeds, stems, whatever) and make juice. Haven't tried that yet. I cannot seem to get off green smoothies long enough to try anything else. ^-^
I actually have the Jack LaLanne one -- my mom gave it to me for the best gift EVER. It works great, is easy to use and clean (although cleaning is tedious) and makes me very happy. I understand that they are pretty inexpensive. I know that this model has been hit & miss with customers, though... evidently some units are less well put together than others (or some of the owners are doing something wrong, impossible to tell from reviews). The one thing it will not do is citrus, but citrus is easy to juice with a reamer or a squeezy thing.

Could be worse! I looove green smoothies. :)>>>
I really want a vitamix for the purpose of making juice without having a juicer and removing all that pulp. Has anyone done this?
I don't take steroids.
