Gas prices

Is anyone else totally mind boggled about how fast and low gas prices are going? I filled up my tank for $20 at $1.98 a gallon :o And an hour away, gas is $1.71 a gallon! And its supposed to keep going down. I don't think its ever been this low since I started driving five years ago.
Anyway, what are your ridiculous gas price stories/ thoughts?
Gas around SA is $1.92 I think. I've always kept a gas log for my car. Date, price, # of gallons, total cost. The first tank of gas I put in it back in Jan '99 the price of gas was $.89 cents a gallon and it cost me about $9.00.
I just filled my tank up for $48. I am so stoked on lower gas prices. This is so much better than the $90+ it took to fill my tank at the height of the summer.
Gas around here is averaging around $2.40 a gallon.
So as long as it stays like this for a few months I will be happy.
Parking the Mazda and driving the minivan for the winter.

You drive a bus?
It's around $2.40 here. I filled up my tank for $28 instead of $44 and was thrilled.
I have a 20 gallon tank.
I think the gas tank in my camry is about 18 gallons. I filled up for $2.07 some time last week when the light came on, and it was less than $50 for the first time in a long time. :)
The lowest I've seen it anywhere by where I live is $2.45 at an off-brand station. Still, better than $4.98 a gallon.
Wow, some of you must live in some pricey areas. When I left on Friday to visit my parents the gas here was $2.09/gal but 2 hrs away it was as high as $2.49. On the way home today I did see a station at $1.98, but didn't go by close to the house to see how low it went here.
It's around 2.10 here..the lowest we've seen it around Missoula. It's been around 3.00-4.00 dollars for a year+. I had to look the prices up though b/c we so rarely buy gas.
Okay, seriously. I leave the country and everything starts going right. WTF.
Its 2.38 here in PA. I really hope this is going to stay good like this and not just the calm before the storm.
tehehe.
The lowest around here is $2.49...I'm still pretty happy about it though
The lowest I've seen it here is $2.17/gal. According to some sources, we are at peak oil production right now and shouldn't expect that to last much longer. If these sources are accurate, enjoy the prices while you can because they will be going up shortly.
:(
I filled up for less than $35...using premium.

How many gallons per fill-up? And why premium?
Wow, such high prices! Gas here in Canada is only 99 cents. ;)
Heh, it's $2.30-something here, but I can still fill up for less than $2.50. :D
I love my scooter. With its 1.2-gallon tank. And its 80+ mpg. I filled it up on October 12th, then again on November 6th. I don't plan on filling it again until December, I think.

A scooter would be so cool! Can you still even use it in the winter (or you are probably in a state with a better climate than mine)?
I might have to look into getting one.. its probably perfect in and around a city.
Get a bicycle. I haven't filled up since never.
I do ride it through most of the winter, but I'm a little further south than you (DC)-- the only truly prohibitive weather is slippery/icy. I ride my bicycle most days to/from work, but the scooter is good for longer distances or if I have to carry a lot of heavy/unwieldy stuff. This city is big enough that if I want to ride from one end to the other, a bicycle doesn't always make sense, so that's where the scooter comes in.
FWIW, I'm not the only person on VW with a scooter, so you can get some more opinions. There's prob even a separate thread on scooters! Call it research. :)
