Black Bean Burgers
1 (20 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
1/4 cup red bell pepper, diced
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 egg replacer (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=7678.0)
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 tablespoons fresh chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons olive oil
salsa, to garnish
alfalfa sprouts, to garnish
guacamole, to garnish
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking pan. In a large bowl, mash black beans then add onion, bell pepper, cayenne pepper, egg replacer, vegan bread crumbs and cilantro.
2. Blend until all ingredients are mixed well. Form bean mixture into patties and place on prepared pan.
3. Bake for 10 minutes. Alternatively, fry them in olive oil. I recommend baking them. Serve with garnishes, if desired.
SO HOW'D IT GO?
Great recipe! I just made these for myself and they were so quick to prep and bake! I had mine with sprouts and a whole wheat tortilla with some ketchup. I have 4 burgers for leftovers! yes!!
hmm...that makes me sad! :'( i loved them, i'm going to try the other one...
Taneika: I did rinse them off... Don't know what happend. :-\ The other recipe was "Black Bean Burger" were there's oats in it... Its on this site as well...
okay, so I tried these - and I didn't like them :( They were to mushy and kindda bland. I think I tried another black bean burger recipe on this site, cause this one just weren't for me.
did you rinse off the beans before you mashed them up??? that makes them more dry...I cant believe you didn't like them, what other recipe did you use? I would like to try it!!

Looks really great :D But please, specifications people! >:( How much is one large can?
Thes things were GREAT. I didn't put them on a hamburger bun, I just ate them with ketchup and they were delicious!!
Thanks for this recipe.
