Fresh Marinara Sauce

What you need:

1 carton grape or cherry tomatoes
3-4 cloves fresh garlic
2 tablespoons fresh chopped basil
2 tablespoons olive oil

What you do:

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan. Chop the garlic and put it in the pan, stirring until it is slightly brownish. Add the tomatoes. When they get hot enough, they will burst. After they all burst, add the basil, stir, and serve with your favorite pasta! It is delicious because it is so fresh.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I used my immersion blender , and added  a small onion. It tasted fresh, with the small  mason jar full of fresh locale summer tomatoes. They were easy to put up too. Just peel, the tomatoes and put in jars, and pour boiling  water over, screw lids, and turn upside down to set.

My husband and I just made this tonight, and were disappointed after reading all the great reviews. Perhaps I should have used full sized tomatoes like some of the others suggested, but instead I followed the recipe. Although the tomatoes "popped", it didn't really turn into a sauce, it was more like tomatoes with a clearish liquid. After a while, I figured it wasn't doing anything more except burning, so I just took the tomato mixture in the pan and poured it into my food processor. Then I added red wine vinegar, salt, crushed red pepper, and the basil. Processed that up, added it back to the pan with some onions, and it was delish. So, dinner wasn't ruined, but the recipe did not work for me at all. :(

This was nommy. I modified it a bit by using regular homegrown tomatoes, adding onions, mushrooms, and a couple of pinches of kosher salt as well oregano. Turned out wonderfully, and it was super easy! Thanks!

This was so flavorful for such a simple recipe, thank you! I think next time though I'll use regular tomatoes and cut them into small pieces, like jennabakes did. We used grape tomatoes, this time, and they wouldn't pop so we had to mash them up a bit. I was going to try this with the carrot spaghetti recipe on this website but, well, I kinda screwed that up  :-[LOL so we just used regular pasta. I'm definitely going to try using carrots again next time.

This was so so so good. I gobbled it all up, and added a portabella. Was amazing. Thanks for the recipe.
