Herbal Detox Tea

What you need:

6 cups cool, filtered water
1/2 teaspoon burdock root
1/2 teaspoon dandelion root (pictured)
1/2 teaspoon licorice root
1/2 teaspoon marshmallow root
1/2 teaspoon milk thistle seeds
3 small slices fresh ginger root
4 to 5 cardamom pods
pinch cayenne pepper

What you do:

1. In a stove-top-safe glass or ceramic pot or kettle, add the water, then add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to keep at a low boil for 30 minutes, or until the water has reduced by a third (4 cups water remaining).
2. Strain the herbs out, and keep in a sealed container in the fridge.
3. Drink 3 to 4 half-cup servings per day throughout your detox.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

There is so much great information about detox and herbs in the video, but I have a few questions: Are you supposed to drink this tea every day for a period of time or once every so often for a regular cleanse?  Are there any yucky feeling side effects as the toxins leave?  Lastly, did you photograph you herb pile on the floor?  (Love that!)

Well, the tea can be different for different cleanses. You can find more info on my blog (http://www.healthyeatingstartshere.com/health-issues/detox-diet-plan-8), and there are a whole series of posts about detoxing.

The best way to take the tea is when you're on a cleanse, and to take 1/2 cup 3-4x per day. You can take it on a regular basis, but for a cleanse you want to take it fairly often.

The herb pile is on my cutting board actually. but you're right, it looks like the floor :)
