SO HOW'D IT GO?
hi was just seeing if you minded a comment. i like your website and the thme you picked is super. I will be back.
bubblegum casting
*rolled* them out, that is... (crappy keyboard, gah!)
Really good! I used 1 c whole wheat flour/ 1-1/2 c unbleached white flour and garlic salt... Just kneaded by hand, & it worked fine. Also added 2 tsp nooch and 1 tsp gluten flour to the mix (for flavor/ texture, respectively), so needed a couple extra dollops of water to keep dough from being too dry. Made ping-pong-ball sized doughballs then olled 'em out with a rolling pin, which was a pain in the ass but effective (note to self: must purchase tortilla press!); sprinkled each on one side with a little more garlic salt, before flipping them... turned out really yum! In fact, now I'm having a hard time not just snacking them, instead of using them for bean wraps tomorrow as planned!
Thanks-- good recipe, will definitely make again! ;)b
I didn't like this recipe at all. The amounts were totally off as if the poster had just guessed, the tortillas are way too thick, the texture is not right. These are not good.
With wheat flour these were great as is! I tried Brown Rice Flour with just a little wheat flour on my 2nd batch and they crumbled. Perfect with the wheat flour though. Will have to experiment with other types of flour
These turned out pretty good. I halved the recipe and used 3/4 c. all-purpose flour and 1/2 c. whole wheat. I took the advice of another and cooked them quickly so they stayed soft. Thank you!
A great and easy tortilla recipe. Worked out wonderfully for our mexi-night. All I need now is a tortilla press! Flattening them all out by hand is sort of a drag.
Also, these keep great in a round, flat-bottomed Rubbermaid, for leftovers. They also make great tortilla chips if you bake them.
Does anyone know if the recipe is suppose to have baking powder or how much? I didn't see it listed, except for the recipe for 2. thanks
no it does not require baking powder, however I imagine if you wanted a fluffier raised tortilla, you'd probably want to add a 1/2 tablespoon of yeast, and do the whole raising thing kinda like bread, also throw in like 1 tsp of baking powder for good measure. THIS IS JUST A GUESS, since ive never made this recipe like that before, just basing it off some of my personal recipes.

These were easy and delicious. I'm never getting tortillas from the grocery store again!
To flatten them I put the ball of dough on my pizza stone, laid a sheet of plastic wrap over the top and rolled it with my rolling pin. While I didn't very smooth circles, I was able to get them pretty thin by the end. (My first couple looked more like Gordita.)
I got hooked on these in Honduras and have been craving them ever since ^-^ so nice to have them again! Thanks!
