I Can't Believe It's Vegan Gravy!

What you need:

1 vegetable bullion cube
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
few good dashes garlic powder
2 heaped tablespoons nutritional yeast
few good dashes soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon mustard
1/4-1/2 cup flour, as needed (I use brown rice flour)
1 tablespoon vegan butter
sea salt and pepper, to taste

What you do:

1. Combine all ingredients in pot, and bring to boil.
2. Cook on medium low heat until done.
I sometimes like to add a little pinch of sage as well. This goes great over everything! My Dad (avid meat eater) says that this gravy is delicious!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Holy moly!  ;)b  Delicious doesn't begin to cover it!  I tried this recipe to take to an omni Thanksgiving....and my gravy was gone long before the turkey gravy was!

I just made it again to pour over biscuits for brunch and shazam!

So easy too!  My omni husband gives this a 10/10.  And he's from Alabama...where he says they invented sopping up with biscuits.  That's just what we did today!

Thank you!!!

This was great!!  I had this tonight for Thanksgiving dinner.  I never have much luck with vegetarian gravy but this turned out really good.  I used corn starch instead of flour to thicken it because I was afraid the flour might make it lumpy.  It was also my first time using nutritional yeast and I loved the taste it put on the gravy.  Thanks!!

Added the sage, omitted the onion powder and nutrition yeast.  Super yummy.  So happy to not have to buy packaged gravy ever again!

i loved this. after moving out of home recently i have never been able to find anything to match my mother' s gravy (my whole family is vegan, lucky me i know). this isn't the same, but just as good. i didn't use mustard as i had run out, but i desperately substituted with yellow mustard seeds and it worked! i put some ginger in, and soy sauce to taste, which for me is rather salty. i added some cornstarch at the end cos i thought it wouldn't thicken, but it did regardless. i didn't have any garlic powder so i just put some garlic through the presser thing and i bet i'll have bad breath tomorrow! fantastic gravy -- i will def. make this again!

Came out great! I was making sheppards pie, and in the last 15 minutes it was cooking realized I forgot to buy gravy! I had everything on hand and it was yummy. It makes a lot, and doesn't reheat well, so much sure to cut it down to only what you will need and make it fresh each time you use it!

WOW!. This is the best vegan gravy recipe I've had. I like your addition of mustard and nutritional yeast. I never would have thought of that. I did tweek it by making a roux, 1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. flour, before slowing adding the remaining ingredients already mixed together.

Hi, what is "Braggs Liquid Aminos" and what section of a grocery can I find it in?  Thanks.

Find it at a health food store. Asian section, non-refrigerated. Basically the most amazing tasting soy sauce ever.

this was awesome! I had it over some country fried seitan and mashed potatoes. I added some thyme and sage. I used chickpea flour and browned it in the pan before I added broth. yum!

The carnivores that I know that have tasted it are all about it. :D  Usually prefer it, actually. Just remember to keep stirring...
