Tasty Truffles

What you need:

8 ounces vegan cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
2 cups vegan chocolate chips
1 tablespoon flavored liqueur, optional (I use hazelnut)
chocolate chips, melted, to coat, optional
almond bark, to coat, optional
chopped nuts, to coat, optional
coconut, to coat, optional
cocoa, to coat, optional

What you do:

1. Blend vegan cream cheese and powdered sugar, slowly adding the sugar to the cream cheese (I use a food processor).
2. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave. Add the melted chips to the cream cheese mixture, and blend until it's all mixed in.
3. If desired, put 1/2 the mixture in a glass bowl and refrigerate, then add flavored liqueur (hazelnut is nice) to the remaining mixture, and blend a little longer.
4. Put the mixture in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. Roll the mixture into little balls.
5. Roll the balls in the optional toppings, if desired. Refrigerate until ready to eat. '

These are delicious!!  (even though, I can only eat like one at a time.)  I doubled the recipe, because I have people over that like sweets alot.  The truffles turned out perfect.  I chopped some nuts, granola, and used some coconut to roll it in, so there would be a variety.  Yummmmmmy!! :D<---This is what I feel like after eating them...Hahaha

Since the first time I made these I've made them a few more times. I brought them to a couple of gatherings and people really raved about them. The ones rolled in the colored non-pareils went really fast as did the ones rolled in cocoa and melted chocolate. If you bring these somewhere make sure you label them or tell people they're candy, cause at first noone tried them because they thought they were doughnut holes! Once they heard they were truffles they were eaten up. If you're into truffles, I also recommend cookies n 'cream' truffles (the recipe is on this site) which people also really liked.

These were good. I used a hand mixer to blend the stuff. I also added extra powdered sugar, as suggested by mbenedet and it hardened up perfectly. At first I thought it was too hard but it wasn't. I rolled them in sprinkles (check ingredients), powdered sugar, cocoa and melted chocolate, and they looked great.

Never solidified enough to roll into balls, but this was really tasty to just eat with a spoon.  Tasted just like real truffles!  ;D

Just add another cup of powdered sugar, and it will work perfectly.  This recipe is almost identical to one in the PeTA Celebrity Cookbook, except for the difference in amount of sugar.
