Tofu Delight
3 extra firm squares of tofu
bread crumbs
brewers yeast flakes
garlic powder
fresh basil leaves
fresh tomatoe sauce
Dry off the tofu squares. Cut the tofu into triangles and then each triangle into halves. This should give you 4 triangle slices per tofu square. Mix together the vegan bread crumbs, yeast and garlic powder. Place each tofu triangle into this mixture and cover completley with the mixture. Place all of your triangles onto a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown and then turn over and do the same. Remove from the oven and place in a casserole dish and cover the baked tofu with the tomatoe sauce. You can then sprinkle more brewers yeast flakes on the top of sauce. Place fresh basil leaves on top of tofu and sprinkle with more yeast flakes. Place back into the oven and bake for 20 mins. Serve with a salad of your choice and you are all set.ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
SO HOW'D IT GO?
nutritional yeast I'm sure is what we call it.. I know i don't eat brewer's yeast yuck!
Okay, I did a little research, and I found out that we are all right. There are two items called Brewer's yeast. One of them is the live yeast you use for brewing beer. The other is obtained from the brewing process where the yeast is dried and killed and used as nutritional yeast.
I'm attaching a picture of the brewer's yeast I used once. It says it's a "high potency instant nutritional yeast". It tasted identical to the nutritional yeast I normally use.
Hope that clears up some confusion. Just make sure you get the kind you eat.
my brewers yeast flakes definitely say "nutritional yeast" on the packaging.
brewers yeast and nutritional yeast are most definitely two different things. and most definitely not interchangeable.
I think brewer's yeast is the same thing as nutritional yeast. Well, at least one time I bought a brand that said "brewer's yeast" on the front, and then right below it "nutrional yeast". It tasted the same, but was in these strange crunchy pellets instead of powder or flakes. It didn't look or taste anything like yeast you make beer with.
Did you mean nutritional yeast flakes instead of brewer's yeast? I can't imagine that tasting all that good... Can you clarify? I'd like to try it!
