SO HOW'D IT GO?
I was excited by the previous reviews, so I decided to make these brownies, thinking that I would get results different than I had experienced with vegan brownies before. I followed the recipe exactly, but the dough came out so thick that I almost had to continue mixing with my hands! Of course, looking at the amount of liquid compared to the amount of solids in the recipe should have tipped me off. I put these in the oven but they came out just as my mother's "veganized" brownie recipe did. Way too chewy and fudgy, but not in a good way, in an uncooked way, yet I know I baked it long enough as the edges would go on burnt if I put it in for any more. These were still good to eat, of course, because it's chocolate, but I think I will continue my quest for a good brownie recipe. Thanks for giving me a good excuse to try my hand at vegan brownies again, though.
hmm so i started these and things were going fine, but when i finished i had a batter with a cookie dough consistancy. I added some water, then a couple teaspoons of applesauce for a lumpy but still thick consistancy. what is it supposed to be like? they are baking right now, so i guess will see if more liquid did the trick.....
I think the batter is a bit thick...but I dunno about cookie dough consistency. I've never had to add anything, and they are perfect. I think the batter is just a bit thicker than cake batter.....pourable, but thicker. If you followed the recipe, I think they would have been fine. Either way, I hope they're perfect!

i tried the cold and they are the BEST EVER! i have never in my years of veganism and sweet connoisseur-ing had a brownie this good. the only things that were ok were just my fly-by-the-top of my hat brownies that sometimes ended up being good, but i never had a recipe for them!
this. is. it!
oh, i added a touch of vanilla.
ok, these are delightful and they haven't even cooled, yet! (i like cooled brownies).
good job!
These are friggin' AWESOME! I used egg replacer instead of flax seed, and added about a teaspoon of vanilla...However, I just made these for a dinner with my non-veggie relatives, and everyone loved them! Thanks so much for the great recipe! ;)b
I forgot to add the baking powder AND the salt, and these were still the best vegan brownies I've made so far. Better than JOVB for sure. They get "crunchy" (but not really crunchy--chewy, maybe?) on the edges like a good brownie should, they form a crust on top, and they are nice and fudgy in the middle. Next time I will make them properly with the baking powder. Ha.
These were really yummy! I had to cook mine longer (like 10min) but I liked the gooey texture and chocolate taste, Def will make again!
these are AMAZING!!! :)....WAY better than brownies with eggs, butter, etc, and FAR better than brownies from a mix! the batter was delish....all the non-vegs ive given these too love them....oh, and i subbed coffee for the water and added choc. chips - YUMMY!
the first night i was a little disappointed by these, but as time went on i really loved them. as they sat they got better tasting i thought, and were really good warmed up (although fresh from the oven the didnt taste sweet enough to me). they got that crispy top like you get from a duncan hines mix and were a good blend of fudgy/cakey. i think they'd be even better with some chocolate chips thrown in.
