I have that one. I've made the gyro one and the tofu ricotta one. I think they were pretty good.

Well, it sounds unusual but the Kale & Kraut Sandwiches (p. 105) are very good and a refreshing change from standard fare. Also, the Seitan Salami (p.40) is now my standard seitan log thanks to Davedrum. Finished one off at lunch yesterday and made a new one while we were having lunch. So good, so good. :D

And I wanted to ask you. Where do you get vegan cookbooks for a dollar?

*BUMP* I haven't used this cookbook in a while, and forgot how much I liked it. I loooove the Elegant Broccoli Bisque, Oven-Roasted Tom Tofu, and the Spicy Peanut Sauce. Oh! and the Muffins That Taste Like Donuts, and the Applejacks.

My favorite recipes off the top of my head are the muffins that taste like donuts, which I haven't made in about a year because I don't have any muffin tins right now :'( the grilled cheese sandwich recipe which I make all the time for lunch with tomato soup, and chickpeas a la king :D that I eat as is, bot the boyfriend likes with rice to fill him up more.

I just made the muffins that taste like donuts, and they were a big hit. I actually thought they tasted more like a Hostess crumb cake (but 10000x better). They're a yummy, simple muffins and super awesome.
I also like her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies--let them sit. They're even better the next day!

Okay, I want to do everyone a favor and tell you NOT to make the "Ultra-Fudgey Fudge Brownies". They were awful. I think this is probably what omnis think vegan food tastes like. The night they were baked they were gummy, tasteless, and super chewy. Just bad. The next day they were a tiny bit better, but still tasteless and the texture is still rubbery and bad. Don't do it! There are MUCH better recipes for brownies on vegweb!

The "Buttermilk" Biscuits are good--they taste just like any plain buttermilk biscuit I ever made as an omni, using butter/shortening and milk. We used them for biscuits and gravy, and they were a little crunchy and perfect to soak up the gravy. I made them with whole wheat flour and white whole wheat flour, and both were awesome. These will fool any omni, hands down.

The Ground Seitan is absolutely fantastic, and it is incredibly easy to make. I made the "Sausage Style" and I ground it in 2 batches. One batch is really fine and I will use that for Biscuits and Gravy, and I left the other batch really chunky, and that's going on some pizza. I sampled wayyy too much of it as I was making it, and the flavor is out of this world. Make this now! http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/5548/p40102862.jpg

I've heard good things about the ground elsewhere too. I'm going to try making the original, thanks for the review and pics Veganrun!

I made the original of the Ground Seitan and wasn't too impressed with it. It's good, but not like crazy good. I might try the sausage style - that may be more up my alley anyway.

Sorry to hear that, br. What did you use the grounds in? I can't remember if I said this earlier, but I used the sausage on pizza and in biscuits and gravy. However, I thought it was so delicious plain that I was eating it straight out of the container.

I just made the Caesar dressing from VV last night, and I really liked it, actually liked it even better than the recipe in Vegan Table. I thought it seemed a little strange, using tahini, but it was really good. Actually much closer to a traditional Caesar taste than I would have expected. I replaced half the water with unsweetened almond milk, and this made it a bit creamier. Other than that, I kept it as is.

Cornucopia Oat Burgers
This is one of my favourite burger recipes - these are delicious in a sandwich for lunch or topped with a 'chicken' gravy and served with mashed potatoes for dinner .

I just made the carrot butter spread last night and WOW! :)>>>
SO GOOD! I made the cinnamon sugar, maple, and garlic variations, and I don't know which I loved more. I think the cinnamon sugar, but the garlic was amazing. I couldn't get over how rich and actually "buttery" this tasted--and so much better for you than Earth Balance! Z even fell in love with it. It probably didn't hurt that we were spreading it on homemade bread, but no matter. It was AWESOME. I will be making more of this in the near future. I can't wait to figure out what else I'm going to put this on top of.
