February Boston meet up?

So, I'm going to be in Boston Feb. 14-18 for a science conference and will have quite a bit of time to kill (don't have a whole lot of conference duties except to present a poster that Saturday) and would totally love to meet up w/ VegWeb folks for a lunch or dinner if anyone is around. Also, I'll be going to the conference w/ all omnis and would love to check out vegan restaurants/hang out w/ cool vegans in the area since there will likely not be any vegan food at the conference (I went last year and yuck :P ).
If anyone's up for it, post here. If not, no biggie, but I thought I'd give it a whirl!
Grezzo sounds like a good idea.
kb if you're in search of other vegan places to eat on other days during your stay we can help! here are a few:
Buddha's Delight in Chinatown (Asian, the location seems a little sketchy at first but the food is good)
Grasshopper in Allston (Asian, lots of faux meat products)
TJ Scallywaggle's in Allston (next door to Grasshopper, completely vegan pizza and sub shop)
Veggie Planet in Cambridge/Harvard Square (various yummy things, not all items are 100% vegan)
There are probably lots of other places downtown too, but I live outside of the city so don't know them.
You forgot My Thai in Brookline!
That place is absolutely fantastic.

and Diva's in Davis sq... good stuff, if you like Indian (certainly not 100% veg*n, but doable)
Grasshopper is cheap and plentiful, but I tend to think that's for a reason.. I felt like their faux-meat products were creepy and all tasted the same.
the Vegan house of Pizza around the corner is great and usually has good cheesecake on hand too, if you're not concerned with eating too healthy :)
albany is also a hip place for said meet ups ;)
agreed! my bf's fam lives in Albany.. any town w/vegan cafes and boasting a giant Egg has my vote
gnarls, you're so right, i completely forget my thai. knew a big one was slipping my mind!
kb, i think omnivores would like TJ scallywaggle's, my thai, or veggie planet the best. veggie planet's peanut thai on pizza bread would please any omni i know. or there's herrel's cafe in allston, i heard they're mostly omni but have a few vegan options.
Would it be creepy for me to move to Boston just for the vegweb meet-ups? :-[
Lotus - there are so MANY more good reasons to move to Boston:
1. See aforementioned multitude of vegan restaurants
2. We have our OWN Boston Vegan Association (kbuettne, there are restaurant reviews on there)
3. All the single vegans are really good-looking (the married ones, not so much ;) )!
All - it looks like late (8pm) on February 15th at Grezzo! Be there or CeltKat will refuse to be your personal social assistant!
Sounds good, dinkfeet!
So, it looks like Grezzo is 2.76 miles (yay, MapQuest) from my hotel. How is the bus system and/or cab service? Or would anyone mind picking me up along the way? You wouldn't even have to stop--I could just jump in with an armful of delicious vegan baked goods ;D I'm coming from Arizona, so I will freeze my ass off if I walk that far in Boston in February. I have become a wimp :-\ Although, I wish I wasn't a wimp because I love walking around new cities!
I could meet you at your hotel (with a spare coat and scarf) whenever your Friday ends, then perhaps some of the locals could gather at the Boston Beer Works on the way for a pre-dinner brew. What would be a good time?
I'll have to get back about when I'll be done. I really don't have any obligations this year (except presenting on Saturday), so I should be available anytime after 5 or so. We're having our meeting about the conference this week, so I'll find out and report back.
I'd be up for a pre-dinner drink, though. Sounds great!

I've been considering this myself. Of course, it has the added attraction of being where CeltKat lives.

Hey everyone should move here (especially the bookfamily)! The founder of the Boston Vegan Association (which is super cool) has mentioned a dream of starting a 100% vegan collective where we all live together and eat fabulous food and have oodles of vegan bonding. This would be perfect to offset the crazy living costs up here! :P ::) :D So yeah, come up and join us...
But seriously, I'm up for dinner for sure Feb. 15, and perhaps drinks, depending on when I can get off work. Yay for Vegweb meetups!
you should totally ask the conference people to reschedule for like, a week and a half later so i can join in on the fun!
Aw nuts!

You guys should just have another meet up! Can never go to too many fun vegan restaurants or meet too many new cool people!
nuchita- conferences are never an excuse! i have one in NYC the following weekend. see me complaining?
Yes, we KNOW you have a conference in NY the following weekend and all the NY vegwebbers are patiently waiting for you to start a meetup thread.
Busy? Please! Paper schmaper.
Stillflat9 is in NY, and I think LudaBlue is in NY
I know there are others as well!

VHZ - does this mean you're coming to Boston too? Just let us know then we can help unload the moving boxes.... ::)
All - if it works for your schedules, I'm working on a possible sleepover Friday night, then wafles Saturday morning combined with a field trip to the tiny Indian grocery down the street from me that sells 30 different kinds of dal and flour!

Well, I'm moving back to Maine, but will totally be taking advantage of the train into the city from time to time...whoop whoop! maybe y'all can come up to my place up there come autumn...its SO beautiful-cios!

:o :o :o WTF???
last time i checked, LA, boston was by an OCEAN ;D
i will also settle for waffles that are chocolate with chips in them.
yes, bp, but its
FUCKING ARSE COLD!!! :o
(silly puppy)
methinks choc chip waffles from AuntDink would go over better. :P
but i do hate the cold. perhaps waffles will be better ... if she doesn't injure herself making them ;D ;D
Hey, this weekend at our BVA New Hampshire ski weekend, Dink was the ultimate kitchen goddess. She planned a menu for 9, bought the groceries (under budget no less!), and ordered us all around during dinner prep like an army sergeant! The food was amazing and nobody got hurt (there were tears, but that was just because we tried to chop lots of onion with an aluminum steak knife!)! Oh and I have four words for you: peanut butter walnut waffles.
8) 8) 8)
I have to admit, I've made lots of different kinds of waffles BP (raspberry mocha being my favorite), but never chocolate waffles with chips....salty?! Like the ocean?!
Maybe we could add oatmeal and call them shea-ffles ;D
Regardless, I'll PM the folks who've responded to this thread and the usual suspects - this is turning into a full on vegwebfest! In adam_crisis' infamous words (or was it and_it_spoke - I get the straight bois mixed up):
Howza 'bout them veggies?
