You are here

again with the neighbors...funny story!

My neighbors called the police dept because of my dogs...so the animal control called em at work because the dogs were supposedly in danger...because of my broken window...So they said I had to meet them at my house...so I got dropped off there int eh company vehicle and I was about to vomit from anxiety over what I would find......and the police and the officer were like...well, actually everything seems okay, we can see why they called bu, theres no problem here...then animal control gave me a ride back to work

BWAHAHAHAHA! Told you I was tight with animal control! The officer and I just pleasantly chatted about the possibility of pursuing further education as a grant writer.... 8)

haha! eat THAT crazy, neighbor lady!!!

next time you see her you should thank her for sending them so that you we're able to have that wonderful conversation about grant writing.. and then ask her to request that same officer the next time she calls because you have some follow up questions about that subject to ask him.

Yeah, you'd think that she would get some sort of citation for unnecessary calls!

That's what I was thinking, too.

Doesn't America have an equivalent to the British charge of "wasting police time"? It's a misdemeanor but I believe it carries rather a hefty fine, as well as a civil court appearance...whcih goes on your record.

I realise that AC aren't really "police" in the Law Enforcement sense of the word, but if this happens again you might suggest they speak to her about her penchant for making them waste their time on useless call-outs...

HOLE E SHET!

Animal control just called em back to say they got another call from her adn had to impound my dogs because when they got to my house they were ATTEPTING to exit through teh broken window (there is no way in HECK the dogs could have gotten out of said windo)

So, Im trying to get someone to come into work for me NOW so i can go back and straighten this out, Now that this has happened I feel like everything is all my fualt. AC is fairly unbiased after all and they precieved my dogs to be in so much danger they had to be RESCUED from ME, from MY HOUSE. :'( :'( :'( I feel like my neighbor has been right all along...

:'( :'( :'( I hope I have enough to bail them all out.

Not to be snarky but I wonder if the neighbor was tempting or taunting them to get them riled up enough to try to escape.  I mean if a few hours ago AC came, checked things out and left after saying its all good, how did it change to impounding?  Is the window broken more (I dont know how its broken but am picturing opening in the glass) that could have been caused by neighbor not them?  Glass would be inside not outside or they would have ouchy noses or paws!  Are there footprints where you or AC did not go?

This is NOT your fault!  This is the crazy lady's fault.  Rise above her, make sure your home & babies are all ok and ignore the crazy.

um okay...I bailed the dogs out.It took all my money...the impound fee was about 100 dollars per dog!  My day was horrible and I was sobbing on the public bus. They are all home now and I locked them in the bathroom today. All the glass was INSIDE the house and everyone is saying it looks like a break in.  :( I felt like it would be crazy for me to say that out loud but everyone else who has seen it said so...when I  left there was a hole in the window...when I came back almost the whole window was broken INWARDS. I'm filing a police report today....does anyone remember a few months back when I said I though someone broke into my house because the dogs got out of the dog bedroom and the chickens were let out of the kennel and then the dogs were locked INIDE the kennel? I dunno...but I'm kinda scared and I still feel dreadful! :'( The people at animal control said that my heelers were pit bulls which made me mad....and they said that D'Artagnon growled at them when they tried to take him out of the house "He's pretty aggressive!"So,  I said...."well, as far as he was concerned he was being kidnapped from his house...of course he's going to growl..." but I've never heard a growl come out of that poor baby in my whole life. They were all huddled together and shaking real hard when I walked up tot their kennel.... :'( I never want o see that again! Now they have all seemingly been traumatized adn wouldnt leave my side at home....I hated locking them int eh bathroom today. :-\

Oh Zealia! (((((HUGS)))))) That's terrible! I'm so sorry things got so much worse in just a short time! Is there anything we can do to help????

Honestly, in my cynical witchy head, I think the crazy neighbor did this.  I would head over to her house after having the police there (or while they are there) and mention "Oh I know you know what is happening on this block / street, did you see anything?"

Make the police harass her a bit with questioning as an eye witness.  *hugs*

And your beautiful babies are not aggressive! They were attacked in their own home by someone at a window and then abducted by the AC!  How would they expect them to react?!

About complaints.  Animal control has to investigate complaints that come in.  People can waste as much animal control time as they want with sketchy reports, because if each complaint wasn't investigated and something happened then it would be a public relations fiasco.  It's might be different with police, but even then the neighbor 's covered if it's not "false."

((Zelia))

Obviously, the most immediately important thing is for them to not take your dogs again.  What are you doing about the window?  Is that the only thing they mentioned or is there more they want you to address?  Did you figure out how your house was broken into the first time (through a window, door, ...)?  There are some pretty inexpensive window locks that might help discourage a repeat break-in unless it's malicious vandals.  When you call the police, be sure to tell them about the first time.  I agree about the neighbor.  If she's a watchdog on your house, absolutely tell the police that she may be a resource for information.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

That makes at least 3 of us. At least!

Agreed... the neighbor's got too much of a vendetta with you not to be a suspect in this. Especially if the neighbor is around enough to report it both times...

It is very curious that the window only had a whole and is now broken inward, after the incident with the chickens and dogs. I suppose your neighbor didn't not anyone breaking your window???? I'm really sorry you are going through this. Sounds like your neighbor sucks.  (((((HUGS)))).

I know you're tapped out cash-wise, which sucks, but on the other hand, your babies are safe for the time being. I think it's a good idea to take a trip to home depot (or equivalent) and see about some do-it-yourself home security.

Consider putting bars on windows, getting a security light, or even better a hidden or visible security camera. If it IS your neighbor, hard cold evidence may stop her in her steps. Conversely, I think she's insane, and very little will stop this feud short of someone's death or moving. That sucks, but that's the truth.
