Can anyone recommend a DVD to introduce, or better still convince, people of good vegetarianism is? I live in Cambodia and vegetarians are really thin on the ground.. especially the monks.

Maybe she means no one takes anythng a monk says seriously? I thought Buddhist monks were required to be vegetarian. Maybe there are Christian Catholic monks in Cambodia?

Buddhist monks are required to be vegetarian, but my understanding is in Southeast Asian if monks accept food offering from lay people, they will accept any kind of food that they offer which include meat if presented. I am not sure if this practice is still valid though.

I met a Buddhist who ate meat. I was actually quite disappointed. I'm not a fan of organised religion, but this one didn't seem so bad. By the way, TinTexas, the current pope actually condemns meat eating and encourages vegetarianism.
Edit: I had written condones instead of condemns. Fixed it now. Also he encourages people to abstain from the consumption of factory farm meat, rather than stopping eating meat altogether.

“Animals, too, are God’s creatures …. Certainly, a sort of industrial use of creatures, so that geese are fed in such a way as to produce as large a liver as possible, or hens live so packed together that they become just caricatures of birds, this degrading of living creatures to a commodity seems to me in fact to contradict the relationship of mutuality that comes across in the Bible.” —Pope Benedict XVI http://www.goveg.com/pdfs/PopeAdEaster.pdf http://www.goveg.com/f-popebenedictxvi.asp It doesn't look like he's vegetarian, it looks like he's just against factory farming.
Just want to reiterate I do not like religion. In case you think I'm promoting or condoning Catholicism, I'm not.

I'm taking a guess at this (of course), but I think Morni means that monks are vegetarian, but they are proportionately small in number and Morni wants to help spread the vegetarian message.

If you "condone" something, you accept or agree with it, right? I think maybe you mean condemns or discourages? Help me, I've become the grammar police! :o

Sorry TinTexas, that was a rather contradictory statement. My head was in several places when I wrote that. I've gone back and edited it.

Something that is free is a video on Choose Veg (http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.asp). They also have a place where you can buy other videos and DVDs.

Show them by example (the food).
