I found that out last week myself when my DH was away at a workshop. I wasn't going to go to the bother of following recipes and getting a lot of dishes dirty, just for me. It was hard to come up with something good to eat that was only one portion and not junk food! I bought a jar of prepared Indian curry sauce (Mr. Kook's brand) and mixed that with fried tofu cubes, mixed veggies and brown rice. That was what a had for a couple of meals and it was pretty good. I also ate a few large salads consisting of every fresh veggie in my fridge with a few garbanzo beans thrown in. I also had those Gardenburger BBQ fake ribs as a sandwich. They're not vegan and they're scaring close to pig meat texture and taste but they're acceptable. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy them again. I never was a big pork fan back when I was omnivore! ;D

Oh I love it! Being home alone is when I'm most inspired to cook! and then eat it with no one being a critic

Eating alone does suck. But it doesn't suck as badly as being eaten while alone by bears. Or sharks. Or cannibals. Being eaten by cannibals while with a friend would be better. You would have someone to talk to while sitting in the large iron kettle that is always depicted in cartoons.

I concur lol. I wish when I cooked I could get it in my head that there's 1 of me and not others to eat the 12-20 leftovers hehe. Bummer :(

i love eating alone. i prefer it, actually. i like to eat what i like and i find that when i have to worry about eating with others, i usually end up being pressured to eat something i dont necessarily want to eat

I like eating alone. I can make whatever I want to eat without worrying about if the other person(s) will like it. Plus I can have bad table manners: eat right out of the bowl I cooked in, or eat with my hands

see... i love my alone time! that especially goes for cooking. here's the deal- I don't question your cooking ability- but imagine all the things you can try out, perfect or eat & not have to worry about pleasing anyone else- but you! plus... who's going to yell at you for eating almond butter out of the jar or taking a sip of pickle juice... No one! Heads up- i know it's a tough sitch you're in.

Yes! I have lived alone for 5 years and these are definitely some of my habits. The best is when I go to someone else's house and almost drink juice/soymilk straight from the container...really have to think about that sometimes... ;)

I pretty much embarasse myself when I eat, so it's good that I eat 99% of my meals alone--in my room--with my door shut-- :-\

Eating alone sucks for me. Then again, it doesn't. My DH is very supportive of my diet choices. I get a kick out of recipes he picks and veganizing them for myself, so we can have the same meal. But then, I eat alone 4 times a week .... SOOOOO much easier (I'm a lazy vegan, then hehehehehe). I don't have to worry about feeding him, so I pop a vegan meal in the microwave, or have PB & J's or a hummus sandwhich ..... mmmmm that eactually sounds good right now ....

That's so funny that this topic came up because I was just talking to my mom about how I don't like eating alone. My boyfriend (whom I live with) has been out of town visiting his parents for the last 10 days and I have found out that I don't really like living alone. No one to talk to about my day, no one to cook for/with, no one to eat with, etc. Except the cats, but they don't offer much help in the kitchen...

I don't mind eating alone when my sweetie is out of town as I cook and eat indian everynight as he's not that keen on the smell or the taste (freek, I know!)

I prefer to eat alone. In large groups it's ok. But in small settings where people have the opportunity to point and ask "Oooh, what is that" or"Can I taste some" etc, I get nervous. And one-on-one like a date, forget about it.
