Glass soda bottles... ideas?

So, I have to spend the rest of my money on my declining meal plan at school before the semester's over (we don't get it back!  >:( ), and I bought a few cases of Steaz (organic green tea sodas, in glass bottles)... but I dunno what to do with the bottles afterwards! I know I can recycle them, but I'd rather reuse (better for the environment). Unfortunately, no, I am not a grade school teacher and cannot use them for a class to make (cheesey) mother's day presents (you know, vases or something).

We're talking 72 glass bottles here... twist-off and not resealable... Any ideas?

I guess I could always seek out a grade school teacher to give them to... but that would be complicated and stalker-ly.

I did something when I was little... It was called stained-glass art where we broke up different colored glasses bottles etc... and then glued them onto plain glasses/vases to make'um purty.

along the line of what EAIMD was saying, you could make some cool mosaics on a coffee table or something.

also, post them on craigslist.

also, when i had to have a meal plan (i don't know if you have anything like this) i used up my $$ at a campus market buying scantrons, bluebooks, and clif bars.  ;D

I'm not sure how big these bottles are, but you could use them to store grains and spices.

Oooh! I'm a grade school teacher! Mail them to me! You wouldn't even have to stalk me or anything.

Then again, I have 11 students, not 72.

You could fill them with varying amounts of water and make a giant xylophone! j/k

You could keep them and make different collages on them for different friends at Birthday/holiday times..and put a flower in them..or candy..or whatever..
You could be set on gifts for a long time! It would be from the heart, right?!  ;)

with one of my art classes (third grade) we took empty wine bottles and I spray painted them black and then they decoupaged pics and painted them. they were cool!

post on freecycle or craigslist

i dont think contacting a teacher is stalkery! teachers love freebies.....especially art teachers

get like um 50,000 more of them and the use them to build a house.. a few people did that with like a bunch of soft drink and beer bottles.. laid them on their sides and used cement to hold them together.. its really pretty and light shines thru it in different colors hehe.. heres a pic..

i would definately do freecycle or craigslist.
no doubt teachers or crafters would want them. also, when i was doing my sister's wedding, i would have killed for those bottles! as it was, i had to scrounge up various glass "vases" from the thrift stores.

have you been to the restaurant Cozemel's?  they use corona bottles as salt and pepper shakers.  I think they just put holes in the cap and press it/glue it back on.  you could put drip candles in them.  something I do alot is decoupage.  I love to cut up paint samples and decoupage them onto things

Oh! If you're going to glue the lids back on..you could also do different sized holes in the top for different liquids/oils. You could have shaker bottles for lots of different oils and vinegars!

Yeah, but you found what appears to be glass bottle row houses.  Awesome.
