How old were you when you went vegetarian? Then vegan?

Totally random question. I don't actually know for sure, I remember thinking about it at the end of 10th grade, reading some books and stuff and then being vegetarian.
So I could have been 15 or 16 when I became vegetarian. And 19 when I became vegan. I started actively avoiding animal products about a year later but, I didn't know about "hidden" animal ingredients for like two years so, I was actually 19 when I became vegan.
I'll be 26 in a few months, and I've been a veggie since I was 13. Crazy.
i fist went vegetarian when i was about 12, then gave up on it because i was too lazy to avoid meat while not cooking for myself. went vegetarian for good at 18, vegan at 19.

Vegetarian at 14 (now 24), vegan at 23 (last October).
16
Vegetarian at who-the-hell-knows-what-age during junior high school or earlier (I just stopped eating meat at some point).
Vegan at 20! Yay!
My veganniversary is coming up on August 14th. 8)
hm... officially, vegetarian at age 20 (or just shortly before my 20th bday)
vegan at age 22....
though I too had 'thoughts' at a much earlier age, say, around 8 or 9 y/o. My dad took us hunting, we had rabbit for dinner tahat night and it totally traumatized me, leading to my connecting "meat" on a plate with the face of a living creature. I tried giving up meat on my own, but it was practically impossible given my circumstances, yadayada.....
/oh hai. I'm back...-ish.

dood, rock on! it's never too late to start. in fact, it's extra cool that you were able to make such a big change so "late" in the game. ;)b
ohh, and the bf has been vegetarian since he was about 9 !
/though he still can't seem to give up da cheeez... hmph. ::)
Went on a Contiki bus trip to Arizona, California and Nevada when I was 35. Contiki trips are for 35 year olds and younger. The trip was in September. I turned 35, July 30th. I was like an old fart. When I got home, I stopped eating beef, pork and lamb. Found California very veggie friendly.
As I home cook for my pets, I went to an outlet (slaughterhouse) to buy chicken for their food. Was told I would not see a chicken, as in live. Well I parked my car and a chicken truck pulled up beside me. Stopped eating chicken that day. That was a couple of years after the Contiki trip.
Went to Venezuela on a vacation shortly after and thought, I don't want to eat fish anymore. So I didn't.
So starting my path was at 35. Probably took me to 38 or so to stop chicken and fish.
Just turned 50. Guess I started late. But when I turned 50 July 30th, many of my friends said welcome to the next 50, the second half of your life. So I can still make a difference.
I first went vegetarian back when I was 13 or 14 and stayed that way till about 19...then I fell off the wagon...for a looooong time...didn't return to the community till Jun 23, 2007 when I was 27, I went vegan a few months later and in about a month and a half I will be 29 (but don't spread that around...it's just a nasty rumour that I'm that old...)
I dabled in vegitarianism since I was a teen I suppose, but it was just last year I really did it. I actually cut out dairy before seafood, so 27 for both.
I too dabbled in vegetarianism since my early teens, and I did become vegetarian the first summer after I started college, but I gave up because I wasn't eating very well, and I felt sick and tired all tihe time. Therefore, I thought vegetarianism wasn't for me. This year, I really got into it, like three months ago, I believe. And I'll be 26 in September. I'm lacto-vegetarian. I don't know if I'll ever become vegan, one thing at a time.
I'm 21 and have been vegetarian for nearly two years :)
Vegetarian at 10. Vegan the first time at 17 for a little over a year and then again just a month before I turned 24.
I'm so envious of the people I've met who have been life-long veggies. Like, children of Hare Krishna's, who have never tasted meat. I wish my mom would have raised me veg.
Anyway, I'm nearly 27 and turned vegetarian at 21 or 22 and vegan less than a year later, I believe. I don't really know exactly. I wish I would have kept a diary!
i tried being vegetarian off and on in my early 20s, but it didn't stick. then i finally went vegetarian for real at 25, vegan at 26 (i'll be 27 in less than a month).

YES!! me too. i have thought about this before, especially when people at work bring up parents "forcing" their kids to be vegan and not giving them the choice to eat meat at a young age. i told them: i wish that my parents raised me vegan, but i didnt have a say in it when i was really young and neither do these kids. we just have to do what we think is best for our kids.
anyways. i JUST figured out 2 days ago what summer it was that i went vegetarian. i was 16, i went vegan at ... let me check my lj...
"i hate and ate cheese. im going vegan now. eating that cheese stuff this morning makes me never want to eat cheese again. damn you lactose intolerence!"
haha. i was 19
veggie @ 18
vegan about 6-8 months later.. i dont think i was quite 19 yet..
i will be 27 in 6 days :-\
I went vegetarian at age six (not raised that way...the rest of the family is omni) and vegan at age seventeen. What took me so long?
I started going vegetarian in Jr high, around 13. Id asked to be veg for years and my mom said if I did my research then I could. But she didn't think Id actually do the research and said that I had to eat meat as long as I lived under my parents roof so after years of begging I just decided not to eat meat whenever possible. I had it like once a day, at dinner (but a lot of times we had beans anyways, so I liked that)
Then, the day I graduated highschool, I went vegetarian, at 18.
Vegan at 21
