I just bought an iPod!
I'm so excited! I have wanted one for a long time but could never justify the cost, especially when I have an old portable CD player that works just fine--but, I had some extra money left over from last semesters budget so I went ahead and got one! I went through amazon since I coud save about $30 through them plus get free shipping--I got the message today that it has shipped so I should be receiving it by Monday!!!!
I bought a swanky iPod nano 3G 4mg. I spent the last two days loading up and sorting all my music and I have 930 songs--so that is pretty perfect since it is a 1000 song model--just enough room left over fo me to finally buy some new music! I'm really looking forward to using it in the gym--it was hard with my old player--I would have to old this big bulky player when I ran so it wouldn't skip--but now I will have it all digital! And I bought a neopren arm band to hold it--so perfect for gym/bike rides!!!!
I'm just so geeked!
So does anyone have any tips, etc. for me? Share a song? Advice? Whatever!

PODCASTS!!!!!!!!
Go to the itunes store and search for things and find good podcasts! They are free. The ones I like are:
Vegetarian Food for Thought (which is actually vegan - by the author of Joy of Vegan Baking!)
Vegan Freak Radio
Vegan Radio
Podrunner (techno mixes for exercise) - might be good for your bike rides!
Librivox and Podiobooks (they have free audiobooks)
This American Life
NPR Story of the Day
Sex is Fun (it's a sex talk show, not porn. it's great.)
Those are the ones I listen to regularly. Plus lots of knitting and craft ones that I haven't listed. Podcasts are awesome.
Playlists!! Make one for working out, one for going to sleep, one for studying for exams...I love playlists!! My exercise playlist is fun, starts out with normal songs, not too fast, not too slow, then I build up from there to the really fast stuff, then back down to slow stuff again for a cool down. I think it helps, because if I'm listening to a song and I'm walking/jogging, I HAVE to walk w/ the beat. That's where Scissor Sisters come in handy. Have fun!! Did you get a pretty color?
be careful when you strap it on for working out. i've had my MP3 go flying many a times at the gym because the earphone wires got caught in my arms when i was running.
Yes indeed :> My solution is to take the headphone line back around my neck rather than hanging in front of me.

Just a brief detour, but does anyone know a source for podcasts that aren't in the iPod format. I'd like to be able to burn some interesting material like what's listed above to CDs so my DH can listen to them on his long daily drive to San Antonio. I don't have an iPod and know very little about them but I just looked at iTunes.com and found stuff about converting from other video and audio formats to iPod but not the other way. Thanks.

and get comfortable earphones. the apple ones hurt something awful for my head.
Maybe my ipod will go flying into some hot guy and it will be the "cute story" of how we met >:D
