Just sharing my love of the thrift store....they had a half-off sale today(so stuff that is usually 2 bucks is now only $1...jeepers!)
Anyway, I got some awesome long patterned skirts for summer....sweet...and an awesome black blazer that I am going to roll up the sleeves of and wear all eighties style...that's right...
Anyone else love thrift?
I used to, then I moved to SoCal. They have ratty old trash-worthy stuff selling for $5-8. I bought a small, almost structurally sound, table from one at a half price sale for $20. I can't believe they had that thing selling for $40. For what it was, I could buy something new on sale for $30.
I love a good sale and it sounds like you got some great bargains! We don't have any quality thrift stores around here, so I've been Freecycling instead and was able to get my daughter a closet full of beautiful clothes that she loves for free...yay!

What's your process? I'd like to freecycle, but I'm not sure how to score a closet full of beautiful clothes.

I'm pretty new to Freecycling, but LOVE it because I can not only get some things that help our family, but I can help others as well.

Each Freecycle group has their own rules. Back in San Jose, I was actually rejected! But the one I joined in our new town, accepts everyone and everyone has been very nice. Basically, once you join, you post things you have to offer or want and respond to others' posts of the same. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, but I think it's a great concept and definitely worth checking out if there's one in your area. If there's not, you may even check into starting one up.
Thanks for posting that link! I joined my town's group. 8)

You're very welcome. :)
Thanks, abrimmer! Freecycle is awesome.! I have never heard of it before. There are several in my area which is great.
This month, I finally discovered the value of doing a once-a-week run to the thrift store. I had no idea how much turnover they have in inventory all the time!
Today I got a funky dress, and I never wear dresses! That's what I get for taking my bisexual friend with me who thinks I'm cute... ;)
thrift stores are a MUST in my books. I love 'em - they're where I get most of my... stuff (clothes, furniture, decorations, books, etc.)

Just out of curiosity...why were you rejected!? That's crazy! I joined a group up here, and I got a cordless phone the other day. Asked the lady if there were any issues with it, she said no. Yeah, it doesn't work. Boo. But you can get some REALLY great stuff on there, it's amazing.
I got a cute little shirt at Goodwill today for only $2!! Score! I love thrift store shopping.
