I just ate nooch.
By which I mean I stood in the kitchen counter, eating the flakes straight.
(B-vitamin deficiency, much?)

Thanks Capture for asking the question I also wanted an answer to. I didnt have a clue what the heck that was either.
Sorry you guys for possibly seeming dumb, but what is nutritional yeast, is it like yeast to make dough rise? ??? Or am I way off in the left field? Haha, I probably am... Because that would be kinda weird on popcorn, i would think.
Nope, it's a kind of yeast for eating, which is grow on molasses, I think. It's not a live fungus i.e. it won't make anything rise.

Thanks for answering my question and not making me feel dumb ;) . Now it dosent seem too weird on popcorn. Actually, I'll have to get my son to try it. We just figured out he's lactose intolerant (he is 3 years old) and loves cheese...so if that stuff tastes like cheese, he probably would like it.

'Nooch' is a nickname that could only come from the US pronunciation of 'nutritional', i.e. 'NOOtritional'. If I were to shorten the word from a NZ or UK accent, it would have to be 'nyooch'. ::) ;D

No prob! I have no hesitation asking "stupid" questions. People can tease or make fun of me all they like but I refuse to be ignorant--even when it comes to slang terms for vegan stuff *lol* "nooch" why have I never heard anyone call NY this??
"nooch" is damn yummy though! I am totally crazing a plate of "nooch nachos" *lol*

Yeah, that one's salty. You might try mugi miso, if it's available in your area, it's made from barley and doesn't need refrigeration. But when I crave miso, it's the salty part that makes it work. I'm weird, as a child I would eat sticks of margarine, or mustard with a spoon, if not watched. Plain old yelllow weenie mustard. And yes, mustard is an excellent emetic (ie it makes you puke.) Ask me how I know this...

Haha, I thought I was the only one doing that kinda weird stuff as a kid. I used to drink vinegar right from the spout! (Yuck, now that I think about it. I also used to eat brown sugar and confectionars sugar with a spoon right out of the jar. Oh, and raw oatmeal with brown sugar. It's kinda chewy, but I used to love that. Yay for being weird!!! :D Now, where's the spoon? lol

Es-tu originaire de l'Alberta ou tu y as déménagé avec l'exode des gens de l'Est vers l'Ouest? I'm just asking, I know there's a French community in Alberta, but there are so many people from Atlantic that moved there in the past few years because of Fort McMurray and whatnot. I'm from NB, myself.

Je viens de Montréal. But i lived for 6 years in PEI before comming out here (an hour from Edmonton) about a year and a half ago. My boyfriend had started working on the oil patch, so we just all moved here (me and our kids). I know, it seems everyone is leaving the Maritimes to come out west... J'aime bien Moncton, c'est une belle ville, les gens sont super gentils là-bas! Écris-moi anytime si tu veux jaser avec quelqu'un d'ici en francais. J'aimerais ça ;)
