Why should you never mention the number 288 in front of anyone?

It's also important to note that pre-calc has nothing to do with calc. Calling it "pre-"calc is misleading. I can't remember how it's different, but I remember those two being nothing alike.

Does anyone else love probability / statistics stuff?
My thesis = an intuitive and probabilistic approach to asymptotic analysis of time dependent queuing systems. so yes; probability is my thing. :)

the main idea with precal, at least how I teach it, is to get students used to the idea of difference quotients (or any functional algebra) and limits, at least in the sense of horizontal and vertical asymptotes.

me too. i just have to write it first.
I have a large chunk of it done, but it's not together yet. it's just a bunch of separate proofs that I need to organize and such.

Hmmm..well, I'm actually looking forward to pre-calc as sick as that sounds. I'm taking it online which should be interesting. We'll see how it goes.

Once in high school I threw my pre calc book down the stairs. I guess that sums up how I feel about math. I did really like geometry, though! I like knowing the answer and then figuring out how they got it.
Fortunately, I teach kindergarten, so the math we do is pretty basic. But sometimes I think its harder to teach the easy stuff (in terms of academics). Because when they don't get it, you're like, OK, how many ways are there to explain that this shape is a circle? You have to get really creative.
booo math. luckily we didnt have to take precalc. i took algebra and geometry. i liked geometry too!! it was the first b i got in math EVER, i got c's and d's in math from 3rd grade until my last math class junior year, geometry. I could relate it to sewing, it made sense.
lets follow the circle with our finger. lets cut out pictures that have circles in them! lets cut out circles! lets walk in a circle! but what IS a circle.... why are younger kids so philisophical. haha. they look so in depth into everything!

I was chill--I'm always chill. I guess I could have made it more obvious I wasn't 100% serious. I used to work in a mostly arithmetic/some algebra help lab, I understand and empathize with people who don't want to do arithmetic, and was standing up for them. Now people like me, who don't like real math--they deserve the :nono: :)
