Is this normal?

I haven't eaten and drunk anything for the day. I was in the rain for 5 hrs yesterday but don't feel sick. Some days I'm just not interested in food or water. Is this ok? I know I should get 8 glasses of water at least but I'm not thirsty at all. Has this ever happened to anyone else? It's not the first time but usually it's followed by a cold or some other illness but I feel normal. ???
Hmmm... I wouldn't say that it's necessarily "okay" as I have absolutely no actual medical experience... But I think I know the feeling. Sometimes I am starving when I wake up, and other days I'm not actually hungry until lunch time (or, rarely, dinner time). Though I do always make sure to eat at least a little something to get my metabolism going. Plus, I think that my body would utilize the food, even if I'm not feeling the physical symptoms of hunger--as long as it's at a "normal" time to eat & my stomach is not already full of food.
I would think that your body would let you know if it was in desperate need of food, but it's probably a good idea to eat at least a small amount. Hmmm. Maybe someone else knows more!
i think it's normal. there are just days where you're not hungry or thirsty. i think that you only feel hungry or thirsty when you need to eat. just wait until your hungry. besides, if you don't eat anything today you can probably splurge on a rich dessert tommorow ;).
Hehe...now that's what I'm talking about. ;D

Well I went to sleep at 5 this morning and woke up at 1 pm. So I haven't been awake very long (It's 7:18 pm now) But I'm just not in the mood for food. I used to be like this very often as a child and my mother would get anxious. Who wants to eat when they could be playing instead, right? lol

Haha. I was always the kid who was thinking about dinner while I was still eating lunch! ;D I've always been a "foodie," I guess. ;)
But seeing as you haven't been awake that long (and it's not as if you're feeling faint or anything), I wouldn't worry at all about it. As long as you're eating when you're hungry--and it hasn't been days & days or anything--I'd say you're just fine!
Thanks Jess!
I wouldn't worry about it ( just for a day though). You might've ate something yestereday that really filled you up.
I don't think it's normal to be up for six hours and not be hungry or thirsty, presuming you didn't eat or drink in your sleep. It's playing havoc with your fluid status, electrolytes and blood glucose levels. :)
Sometimes listening to our body in regards to hunger is best, it keeps us thin. But also sometimes when we're stressed or depressed we eat less. (Or in my unfortunate case, more).
Make it a habit to wake up with two big glasses of water, and don't skip breakfast or meals. It's good for you metabolism, healthy and you should feel good.

Most "normal" folks tend to eat three meals a day and keep up their fluid status. So to answer your question that some days you're not interesting in food or water being a nomral thing, the answer is no .It's playing havoc with your fluid status, electrolytes and blood glucose levels. :)

Hey Cheezees - I'm the same way on the weekends (when I get to sleep in until 1 or 2pm). I can usually go for several hours without water and food and not feel famished.
Of course, there is always the off chance that your body may want to get sick and you're just not feeling it yet - especially if you were in the rain for 5 hours. I sure hope not, though!! :(
Hi Cheezees! Hmmm--this is a tough one--I don't think anything is wrong necessarily--the body obviously goes through changes and different feelings all the time--if it persists I would strongly reccomend seeing a doctor though! If you don't feel like eating you should at least drink some water or other fluid--you don't want to let your body get dehydrated! And who know's sometimes if you eat a little something when you don't feel hungry you will trigger your appitite.
Good luck and stay healthy!!!
Err.....no need to worry guys. My stomach started rumbling soon after and I had dinner. And now I'm kinda thirsty. But I don't feel feverish at all. Since becoming a veg*an I haven't had a cold. Great since I'm particularly susceptible to respiratory (ear/nose/throat) infections. :)
Glad to hear things are back to normal!

Thanks Capture!
Ok....now I'm pigging out. But it's all healthy stuff. Lettuce, strawberries, blueberries and almonds. What a turnabout! ;D
I'm still amazed I no longer crave ice-cream.
Glad this wasn't a sign of you getting sick like it was in the past.
Different people have different patterns. One shouldn't force feed tree meals a day if that's not your pattern. I work with a girl who only eats once a day. Of course she drinks cokes which probably keeps her sugars up and keeps hunger at bay.
Thanks. I'm back to normal now. And not sick at all. My immune system seems to be holding out quite well.
I too find that I could do without breakfast until at least 3 hrs after I wake up. At first food just does not appeal...you look at whatever it is and think, Bleah! But since 3 hrs after I get up I am in class, I can't suddenly decided I'm "clemmed" at 10 AM! So I push in some toast and coffee or some banana bread or such to keep myself from taking a bite out of one of my students. I work from home but it would not be cool to say, "Hold on, I'm going to make a bite of toast." Not here in Spain, anyway! ;D And if I were to offer whoever coffee, "class" would be over and it would degenerate into a coffee klatsch.
This only happens to me on busy school days...pretty normal, in my opinion, if you're too preoccupied to eat or even think about eating.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I just forget to eat. School starts again for me next Monday and I'm taking 2 classes and teaching 3. So I can see my food bill being low for a while. :D
