Nu Bra

Hey guys! I'm going to my senior prom this year, and my dress is absolutely gorgeous. It's a halter top and has no back. I'm one of those girls who doesn't have the tatas that would get away with going braless, so I need to find one of those self-adhesive types. I found a Nu Bra in Macy's, but I have no idea what makes them stick. All the box says is that it won't cause irritation. I've been looking on the web, butI still can't find anything. Do any of you know what's in these things that makes them stick? Do you know of a sticky bra that does have listed ingredients?
I've never tried these personally because I'm afriad they won't actually work--but from what I do know the plastic-y ones just have a sticky chemical coposition to them that keep them up--sounds like it might rub! Good luck!!!
I have a halter bra....it came with black straps and also clear straps- i wore it under the same style dress and you couldn't see the strap at all! I would go that way as opposed to stickies. Those sure wouldn't work for me I don't think!
I'm with Little2Ant...Nothing that is supposed to stay up by itself works for me---"self-gartered" stockings, "sticky" bras...forget it! At my prom, lo these many years ago, even my half-slip (elastic round my waist) crept down my legs during the "march." I have learned to be old-fashioned and go for straps etc. or something firmly anchored inside the clothing itself.
Back in the day you could get bra cups you could tack inside the bodice of your dress. Aren't those available anymore?
third vote for the hlter style! Mine is nude & I bought it at Victoria's Secret. The girl at the store actually talked me out of the stickies. This is comfortable, reusable and gives me great cleavage!

yeah! i love my halter bra from victorias secret, but if you have a backless dress, it wouldnt quite work. if you have the resources to talk to a seamstress, maybe she could sew in a shelf bra into the dress, just another piece of fabric with a big piece of elastic for under your boobs. its really very simple and she would only have to sew around the hem of the top of the dress, the elastic going across the dress would not be sewed in.
are your boobs too big or too small to go braless? how many layers is the dress?
i would say if you have small boobs definitely go braless, if too big and the dress is a couple layers thick go braless? i'm no help.

I forgot to say they carry one with a REALLY low back & even side extensions so it wraps around your waist, then you hook it closed.

That sounds intense. I'm not sure my local Vic's has one of those. When I asked for a bra to go with the dress I described, they suggested the adhesive ones.
Hespedal- They're too big to go without, and while the top is quite layered/gathered, my mother would not let me out of the house without SOMETHING on my boobs.

Haha, this cracks me up. Moms ::) My mom never wanted me to go to dances without "stockings" on, but the rebel in me refused!
Can you post a picture of the dress? I'm no help. just nosy.

Hehe I agree with Lotus, lets see the dress! :) Also I would say if the girls are on the smaller side go braless, its kinda liberating ^-^ . If your mom wont let you out the house without something on, i say go with the halter.
I can't find a picture online, and I don't get my dress back from alterations until April 12. To give you an idea of size, I had to buy an 18 for my boobs and get it brought in to a 10/12 everywhere else. Ugh, boobs.
I purchased one of those bras and they work remarkably well. The only downside is after a couple of hours into wearing it, it started to slip off. One of my friends happended to take a picture of me during the night and it just so happend to be the time when I had to sneak off to the bathroom to dry it and reapply it.
I HAVE ONE OF THESE! They don't require tape, they sort of just "stick." I bought mine too small because I am convinced I have nothing up there, which is simply not true. Be sure your skin is clean and dry, no residues of any kind and follow the directions as to how to apply them. Be sure you buy the right size too.
A NuBra is not pointy at all. They also have a clip thing that will give you vavaVOOM cleavage even if you have very little in the way of breastages.
I got my dress back from alterations today. I thought I'd post some pictures for you nosy folk. Please note that I'm not wearing my sticky bra here, so my tatas are totally free. While we're looking, tell me if you can spot the insulin pump; I've been looking for a good place to hide it.

I love your dress, Courth! That's a great color, and the style is really pretty.
I don't think I see the pump...although I don't know what to look for....looks good, from what I can tell!
I feel your pain with the problem area, haha. The dress I am wearing in my avatar is one of the first dresses I've found where I don't need a bra! I do have one of those sticky ones. They're decent. But yeah, you might have to readjust during a potty break or something. No biggie. What do you think you're gonna do with regards to the boobage? ;)
Courth, your dress is gorgeous!! I didn't spot the pump either and I looked hard ;)b
I'm absolutely no help here because I have very little in the way of boobage (on a good day I sorta fill out a B cup), but would it be horrible to go without a bra? I guess I'm just so impressed with the fact that you fill out your dress that I'd want to show it off! ;D
Like I said, I'm not any help . . .
I agree, you would look fine without. The most important thing is for you to be comfortable. That's what will show the most!
it seems like the dress certainly helps! what a good design you picked out. its awesome! ive found that halter tops really help to hold things up, and tight waists like yours keep them from slouching down. i think your dress looks great as it is, but of course, if its painful to let them fly free, then that would not be good.
I've tried one of those adhesive "bras" before when I was in hs. It was something that you couldn't use more than once and boy did it HURT taking it off. It felt like exactly what it was, which was ripping tape off my boobs. The Nu Bra sounds different and a little better than what I used.
By the way, your dress is really pretty.
