NVR feeling grumpy

In general I am a pretty upbeat, happy person, but lately I have been feeling grumpy for pretty much no reason.  :( I just don't feel like doing anything and am very irritable. What does everyone do to pick themselves up out of a slump? I'm still getting some exercise in, but not as much as usual because I prefer sleeping in....last night I took a nice long bubble bath, read a fun book & had a glass of wine. That felt good at the time. But I slept in this morning and here I am at work not motivated to work at all. When I'm home I don't feel like cooking or cleaning....Indulging in a sweet treat just makes me feel guilty & worse.

Do something nice for someone else...even if you don't feel like it. Volunteer, donate food to a shelter or give your clothes to a thrift shop. Anything. You'll be surprised at the results. Cheer up!  :)

I went through this last week but it was due to almost 3 months of hard work and stress--rewarding but tiring. Maybe you're actually tired out ? Make sure you're getting enough water, rest and minerals. Dehydration can make you grumpy or unable to concentrate.

You just might be bored or mad at something unconsciously.

If your bored think of something that really makes you happy to do. Pamper yourself. Or change your routine a little bit.Try a new food. Shop somewhere new, rent a new video that you never saw before.

I agree with the above suggestions. I get grumpy at times, too. But it's mostly from working too much. So I pamper myself now and then, and it cheers me up. I bought myself some new clothes last week, and donated old ones. That made me feel good.

When I'm grumpy i often try to get together with people whose company I enjoy and do something fun and un-stressful.  I think that being surrounded by positive, but undemanding energy really helps.  I also really like getting outside, going for a walk or a hike.  Between the exercise, the quiet and the natural beauty I find my spirits lift.

There was just a recent study that showed that walking somewhere with "natural" scenery (greenery, paths, trees) works better than Prozac... whereas walking in a mall made depression worse.  I haven't verified to see how good a study it is, nor do I remember where I read it, but I certainly react that way.  Go out and see the green stuff-- birdwatch, hike, or just gaze.

This is my instant pick-me-up: throw some frozen fruit and some soymilk in the ol' blender, add a spoonful of flax meal, and blend until it's a smoothie.  Drink with a straw.  Don't know why, but it works like crazy on me.

well thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think it was a combo of things....I still had the tail end of a really bad headcold, my long run that I tried to do over the weekend to prepare for a marathon didn't go well & I decided to drop out, I messed up something at work, and my puppy was sick, my house was a mess because I have felt like cleaning, I've been oversleeping almost every morning....all little things but the combo just got to me plus I was just feeling run down.

I'm feeling better now. yesterday I got home & the puppy seemed better, I cleaned up the house a bit, I went to a track workout & it went really well. My husband made me a really yummy dinner. This morning puppy seems 100% and I actually woke up on time to go swimming at my friends lake before work.  :)
