NVR: Where is the place place you have ever been to?

Just a poll, I wanted to get some ideas for a vacation sometime in the future and want to know where are the best places you'all have ever been to?

For me it is dificult to say, Alaska definately, but where in Alaska?  McCarthy, Alaska.  It is this little bity town in the heart of Wrangell St. Elias National Park.  Beautiful place to go with Mount Blackburn and the Root glacier overlooking the town.  It is small town, population 50 in winter, 300 in summer with a definate small town feel.  It is isolated only accessable by plane, or by means of a 60 mile long, pot hole, rough dirt/gravel road.

That is my story, what is yours?

Most beautiful place I've ever been is the Aran Islands off of the west coast of Ireland.  Incredible!

I think that the Burren in May/June when all the flowers are in bloom is pretty fantastic.  How they can grow out of the rocks is just amazing and with such contrast between the bright fushia/reds and the gray.  Plus seeing them all against the ancient (sp) tombs.  That was the best part of Ireland for me.

My favorite cities to visit are London and San Fran, but for scenery... Tikal Peten, Guatemala (Mayan ruins, in the small amount of rainforest left there)

Depends on what you like...my husband loves rural France (I've never been), and I guess a lot of the gittes (rural farm-BandBs) are veg*n friendly.

For myself, I went to Wales about 10 yrs ago and loved it. I was in the south, round Brecon and Swansea and Cardiff. But then I'm half Welsh, so that may be part of it!  ;) I've never really travelled much besides northern Spain, which I like very much. Burgos (capital of the province of that name) is a beautiful place and a manageable sized town.

I've not long got back from Ibiza which I found to be truly gorgeous.  I also second rural France where me and my fella hope to move to sometime; For more mountainous terrain, well I'm from Yorkshire, England, so I would have to say the Pennine Way, but also the Peak District (Derbyshire) and the Lake District (Cumbria) - quite spectacular if you're into that kind of thing

As far as unique places I've vacationed, I think that Barbados tops the list.  It's very laid back and veg*n friendly.

Barbados is awesome!! I went there a couple of years ago. It was one of the best vacas of my life. I know what you mean - everyone there is SO friendly and laid back. The beaches were so beautiful and the food was very good (but EXPENSIVE!) I can't wait to go back someday.

In Europe I would say the Greek Isles are pretty spectacular- specifically Santorini.  That's for scenery, but I agree with a previous poster that Barcelona is not to be missed!

In America- Sedona, Arizona has mountains and a very spiritual undertone.  It's touristy but you will find vegan and even raw restaurants there!

I'm also partial to the Florida Keys.  ;)
