Friends,
I did not find any thread devoted to PICKLES, where we can park our recipes, ask questions and share knowledge
about pickles and pickling.
How many pickle lovers are here who would like to chip in ?

Tsukemono ALL THE WAY.
I'm across a continent and an ocean right now, but back home there are a few sushi restaurants that sell oshinko rolls, pickled daikon, and something of great and terrible deliciousness that involves salt, vinegar, sugar, and shiitake.
*misses home*
Oh, but not umeboshi. I've yet to acquire that taste. :o
I love Claussen pickles and kimchi. Really want to learn to pickle.
:'(
this is making me want pickles.
claussen dills. mm.
and trader joe's cornichons (those little sour ones that arent dill..cornichons right?).
i also like pickled ginger. as in, i eat it out of the container at home. (: yum.
my grandma pickles. maybe i'll ask her if she can pass on her skillz ::)

My grandma makes pickles too! Very awesome tasting pickles. Dill ones that are made out in the sunshine and refrigerator ones that have onions and jalapenos.
This thread has made me sad that I won't be up in MI to get any. :'(
I love some dill pickles! i cant stand the bread and butter ones though. I could drink pickle juice by the gallon! :)

woot! i HATE pickles, with a passion, but I <3 me some pickled ginger.
I have a thing for pickled chillies, being a German and all... I make my own (I've submitted the recipe but I it's not up yet). With soy cream cheese on toast! :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>>
Great way to deal with a glut if you grow them yourself!
Thanks to veggie shawarma plates I have acquired a taste for pickled turnip. I also love most pickles, but can't stand the dills you sometimes get in restaurants...they taste soapy to me!

I love pickle juice! Gross but true. And peanut butter and Claussen pickle sadwiches are the best things ever.
I love pickles. Dill pickles, yum! Last semester, I took a course on writing children's books and all of my stories involved pickles in some way or another! I am sooo craving a pickle now...
The Back to Nature Kosher Dills are sooo yummy! They're in the refrigerated section, like Claussen, but no artificial colors/preservatives. I've already eaten two today. I go through a jar about every week :)>>>
oh man, now I want a pickle! As a kid, whenever I went grocery shopping with my mom I used to beg her for a pickle out of the big jar sitting in front of the deli counter, those were the best! love Claussen Dills too. I tried making my own pickles one time & they were pretty good, but not as good as a Claussen or a deli one. I also recently had a pickled green tomato & it was super sour & soooo good!
The pickled ginger I bought contains aspartame, :-\ Don't know if it all does... or just the junk I bought...
pickle juice is good for heartburn...
...per my heartburned friend and his grandma 8)
i enjoy a crunchy dill from time to time
I LOVE kosher dill pickles! MMMMMMmmm. All nice and crunchy!
I also love pickled okra (yes, I am so totally from the South, lol). A good crisp pickled okra with a little bit of spiciness is SOOOO good.
Give me a dill, any day.
Does that sound weird?

OMG I love pickled okra too. :w00t!:
I seriously think pickles are the best food ever. I constantly buy different brands and compare them. I've been doing this for years. I remember eating ENTIRE jars of pickles in one sitting as a child, haha.
I even think different shapes taste different! I'm a total weirdo.
My favorite brand is Mt. Olive. easy to find, I know.. but I've had A LOT of pickles but still like those best. ;D
I love Claussen pickles and kimchi. Really want to learn to pickle.
I love kimchi too but I'm not vegan so I should offer a warning that kimchi is not vegetarian friendly. It contains fish sauce. I have seen some vegan kimchi at Whole Foods but I've never tried it. Has anyone else had it?
I love pickled ginger, pickled garlic cloves (so good and hot!) and sauerkraut. yum.
