proof that there is hope that veganism is at least accepted, if not embraced.
OK, this is the sweetest thing ever. This totally MADE MY ENTIRE WEEK.
I am hanging out with my grandpa this weekend in between classes - he lives alone, out in the country, 82 years old, lived here his whole life. He's given me crap for years about not eating meat (but in a cute I-don't-understand-you teasing sort of way).
This time when I show up, after the requisite "bump and beer" (shot of brandy and schltz-in-a-can) he says, "Well, I never know what to feed you, so I went to the store..." and then he busts out a huge bowl of strawberries, a bunch of grapes, a bowl of canteloupe, and....A FRESH CUT-UP PINEAPPLE!!!!!
He was so proud of himself and I was so happy I nearly cried.
I love my grandpa. And if he can figure out that there is more to eat than meat and cheese, ANYONE can. We must be making a difference.
aw thats so awesome that you got up to visit him!! i love his bump and beer. haha. im gonna have to pass that on to michael.
thats so sweet of him to go get you some treats! mmmmm natural sugars. : )
Awwwww! That is so sweet! I'm glad your pappy is filling you up with happiness!!!! Now you can make him a big fruit salad :)

So sweet, in more ways than one!
Awwwww. I wish I had my own grandpa. I just mooch off the love of other people's male family members.
Probably the cutest, sweetest thing ever!

Me too. Mine passed away 4 years ago. I'd love to have the old fart still around. :)>>> Said with a lot of love.
Awww, sorry you people that don't have grandparents! You could totally share mine.
He (grandpa in the post) is my last one remaining, has been since my grandma died 6 years ago. Honestly he is a huge reason I moved to Minnesota (although there were other, huger reasons). Even though he lives, like 3.5 hours from me, I go see him whenever I can.
Guess what else he did? He made himself a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch because he said he doesn't like to eat meat in front of me. So sweet!

Okay, I am so drooling! Sounds so good, I LOVE fruit!
Your grandpa sounds really really sweet. I wish I still had one. Both of mine died about 10 years ago. My grandpa used to let me eat all the tomatoes out of his garden. (I am a fanatic for tomatoes, especially home grown ones) Grandpas are so great! :)>>>
Reading this totally made my day!
I think my friend decided to go vegan after reading skinny bitch. She ate with me vegan all weekend and all day today by herself..
I am very happy for her!
