In this thread, we talk about weird, random things that we think about and make us go :hrmm:.
I'll start.
After I ate my banana this morning, I wondered if any dude has ever used a banana peel as a condom. It would be so weird and hilarious.
I had a friend that used a plastic sandwich bag and a rubberband as a condom.

I remember the school nurse's agonized expression when she asked us, when giving the girls "the lecture" in 6th grade, what contraceptive methods we knew about. And I can still hear her: "Don't use beaten eggwhite!! It doesn't work! NOT Saran Wrap--it comes unwrapped!" Sad thing is, I don't think the girls were teasing.

OK, so I had insomnia last night. Why is it that when I can't sleep, I notice all kinds of (unpleasant) odours I never notice in the daytime. The sheet smells funny, the pillow, my own hair, my clothes...and yet, if I go back and sniff the same thing in the daytime...no smell at all. Am I having olfactory hallucinations due to sleep deprivation?
And does anyone else get this?

I can't say that I have ever noticed the smells. I do always get a flood of thoughts when I'm trying to sleep, but that's about it.
Yeah, seriously, beaten eggwhite. They thought it would make a barrier, I guess. Like sperm that can swim several inches upstream can't make it through meringue. But hey, at age 12 or 13, who knows anything? Especially in about 1974, which is when this was.
Do you think Jesus would still die for our sins if he were around in this day and age? Or would he take a look at all of the world, notice all of the wars, all of the greed, all of the selfishness, and say "Pfft, to hell with all of these people, I'm not dying for them, they're a lost cause anyway!"?

They obviously didn't know how determined sperm are. >:D
thats funny because when we were really trying to get pregnant our doc told us not to use traditional lubes because even if they don't have spermicide in them, they can be unfriendly to sperm. He said the old stand by was to use a gently beaten egg white, which has the same PH as vaginal fluid and so is much more sperm friendly.
Heh, my random thought is about condoms too. Not really a random thought, actually, but a very funny story, so I'd like to share.
I have some friends who work for a safe sex organization that distributes condoms, so they load up all their friends (wooooo safe sex!). And erm, I needed to restock, so my friend gave me some yesterday and I put 'em in my backpack. Annnnnd forgot to take them out. So I opened up my backpack this morning (in my office, thank goodness not in the classroom!) and flung a handful of purple studded condoms across the floor. Classssssssssssy.
And then I almost did it again several times throughout the rest of the day.

Besides, nothing in human nature has changed much. Read history. Read Julius Caesar and co. Read the classics. As we say in Spanish, "They cook beans everywhere." And they always have.

Yeah, that was what I was referencing, that human nature hasn't changed. It's been 2000 years and we've come all this way and learned so much, but we still haven't really figured anything out or how to treat one another.

I still wonder when they'll make reusable toilet paper. I had a weird conversation about this the other night with a friend. It was awesome.
