Reusing / Repurposing

Something that I like to do is wash and reuse my earth balance and soy yogurt containers instead of buy tupperware containers and the nice thing is that the kind of plastic used in these containers does not leach bpa. And they also freeze well and you can label w/ a sharpie or label. Otherwise, I use glass containers.
What other reusing / repurposing tips do you guys have to share?

I love reusing  stuff! My favorite containers to reuse come from my favorite indian restauant-they are so great, they mircowave and dishwash over and over and over again! i have no idea if the leech or not...I honestly don't care...I'm just so impressed they never melt in the microwave!

Other reusing...shoe boxs for organizing stuff in, glass jars like jelly jars, etc., to use as bud vases or holding bits of things like paper clips and what not, I don't know...I'm a pack rat--I bet I have a ton of crap laying around that I should just recycle! *lol* I love hearing these kinds of tips though! Post them people! vegwebbers are so smart and ingenious!

Dalida, I do the same with my yogourt and margarine containers.  They are the best for freezing.  There is also a kind of instant coffee I buy sometimes that comes in a rectangle tin with a plastic lid on it.  It's a cute size and just perfect for storing my and my daughters hair clips and elastics, or some small toys for the kids.  I use scrapbooking paper scraps to cover the tin to make them prettier too.

One thing I saw at the farmers market that I thought was a great idea, was jeans repurposed as reusable shopping bags (cloth bags).  The lady had sew them just the right size, and jeans are so thick and tough, they would last forever.  I had bought some reusable bags from a grocery store one time and they are almost like material mixed with plastic and they keep ripping.  They will replace them for free, but it kind of defeats the purpose if you have to keep replacing them.  I wish I had a sewing machine so I could make some jean ones.

Thats it, Im out of ideas.

I do it alot for my plastic like containers too, but the lids break after awhile, and I don't microwave them either because that seems to make them weaker.

I also try to reuse the plastic baggies you get with parsley and stuff.  Just rinse it out and hang it to dry.
I wish there was something else I could find for the bulk food stuff, I bought glass containers but I need more and don't want to buy anymore new things.

I use the big soy yogurt containers for stuff like granola, dried beans, etc.  Glass jars come in all sizes, I use nut butter jars to hold EVERYTHING from rice to nuts to beans to agar, etc.

I also use those big plastic containers that you get salad greens in to hold various things.  I have one under the bathroom sink for bathroom stuff, in my desk for office stuff, etc.

I am forever collecting far too many glass jars to store stuff. When I run out of counter space I force myself to take a few to the recycling bin!

I've also made my own shopping bags out of old jeans. Trouble is they are so sturdy it's a temptation to overload them...and then you can't lug the darn thing upstairs!

I used to pick up the freebie newspapers to line the birdcage with...these days they don't give so many away. DH reads the news online...don't know what I'm going to do when I run out. Beg from the neighbours, I guess.

Aw, haha.
I actually made a bag from an old t shirt before!  I wish I could do more with my old clothes, but I mostly pass them on to my sisters who get good use out of them.
