The "SAY SOMETHING NICE RIGHT NOW" Thread
This is something I do with my children when they have been insulting or generally acting nasty to each other. I thought it would be nice to do it here. The rules are you have to say something
1. to someone you've never said anything nice to before (for whatever reason)
2. that is affirmatively nice
3. about that person
So, for example "jkl I really like how your screen name has three letters in a row" is not particularly affirmatively nice about me, whereas "jkl, . . . . " Okay, well, I can't think of anything, but you get my drift.
I'll start.
Yabbitgirl: I am really impressed that you are vegetarian in Spain. I haven't been there in many years, but if it's the same as say, fifteen years ago, I can't imagine a more veg-unfriendly place. You must have a lot of conviction. And I really like your posts.

Hey JKL, I think you're a great person to take action in creating great vibes on VegWeb again! (Not that there aren't great vibes all along, one way or another, on VW.) And I think you're great in that you've been a member longer than many here, too.

AshleyKimball, you are an amazing and inventive vegan chef! I'm amazed at your abilities to invent/modify such fantastic recipes, and to even go so far as to make every detail perfect (I'm thinking specifically of the "pop tarts" you created--beauty!)
I also think you're really cute, I love the way you state your convictions, the way you're so open about discussing difficult issues...AND I love your fascination with BUGS, and your apparent passion for MUFFINS! Oh, and your recipe photos are some of my favorites. :-*
Camillus- I love how level headed you are and how you always try to keep the peace. I always agree with and support you, even if I'm not "getting involved."
And thank you to JKL for starting this lovely thread. I love that you are thinking positively and working toward a solution.

I want to say zillions of nice things about Meggs, but the rule was that it had to be someone you haven't said it to before. :'( But she knows how I feel. ;)
I really like that Shea likes oatmeal and her pictures are amazing. I even wanted to "try" peanut butter on bananas because her picture was so good. There's such a playful air about them. You know you'll be happier just by eating anything she's photographed.
I'm pretty vocal when it comes to telling someone what I like about them on Vegweb (maybe too much so, sometimes I tend to embarrass people I think). But I don't think I've told the following people what I like about them...
Wormyworm, I like that we can debate the horrors of welfare reform in a positive manner, even though we mostly disagree on that issue. I like that when I tease you about it, you don't take it seriously, and you joke back. We know how to have a healthy, fun, informative debate.
Bookmama, you always share nuggets of wisdom here and there, and I really appreciate them. You are someone who I look up to, though I've never said it outright. Your words in one of your posts talking about how one can never take back what one says and writes still rings in my head. Hopefully, one day I will be more compassionate and loving toward all other humans...like you (and Bookpapa) seem to be...I'm hoping I'm just going through a "phase"! Thanks for all you say, Bookmama. I'm still so proud to be a part of the Bookfamily--I know deep down I'm not really nice enough to *really* be a true member, for you are all so 100% good and sweet, but I like to pretend that I am. :) -BookBunny

But really, I am so very proud to be your friend...I absolutely love the way you are not afraid to stand up, speak the truth, and tell it like it is. You are a wonderful beautiful person, and there are so so so many things I admire about you. I would write out a list here of all these things, but it would go on and on and on and on, and everyone would get fed up with me writing about you. :) But I think you know how I feel, I just wanted to write it here, so I could embarrass you in front of all the Vegwebbers! ::) I am so very happy and thankful that you are in my life.
