The "SAY SOMETHING NICE RIGHT NOW" Thread
This is something I do with my children when they have been insulting or generally acting nasty to each other. I thought it would be nice to do it here. The rules are you have to say something
1. to someone you've never said anything nice to before (for whatever reason)
2. that is affirmatively nice
3. about that person
So, for example "jkl I really like how your screen name has three letters in a row" is not particularly affirmatively nice about me, whereas "jkl, . . . . " Okay, well, I can't think of anything, but you get my drift.
I'll start.
Yabbitgirl: I am really impressed that you are vegetarian in Spain. I haven't been there in many years, but if it's the same as say, fifteen years ago, I can't imagine a more veg-unfriendly place. You must have a lot of conviction. And I really like your posts.
JessaCita - you're probably my favorite person on VegWeb. You always have thoughtful, supportive things to say. Your comments on threads I've started and/or posted make me feel validated and like I'm a part of this community. :-*
Oh, my gosh! I seriously just teared up--and I'm trying to be a sneaky VegWebber while at work. ::) (And I'm a sap!) I really think you're fantastic, veggeroni, and I always love what you have to say here. I can tell you put thought into your posts, and you genuinely care about the other people here & like to share your feelings & vegan knowledge. (Plus, we're both obsessed with Eat, Drink & Be Vegan! ;)) Thank you for the compliment! Jeez... I am blushing & feeling emotional. 8) I am so happy to have you as a part of this community, and I know others feel the same way! Your posts are always some of my favorites.

Now I'm tearing up too JessaCita :-[ You're very sweet, and thank you for the kind words. It really means a lot. I'm such a sap too. It's just that I don't have any veg*n friends in "real" life. I come on here to get the support and camaraderie that I don't have anywhere else. That's why I love and appreciate the folks who help each other out and boost each other up. I consider you one of those "folks"!! ;)

Awww thank you Zealia! I have the utmost respect for you!! You have a heart as big as they come and are so amazingly compassionate towards people and animals both. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if the world had more people like you we'd be so much more better off. I HATE that some people give you a hard time and that your neighbors and neighborhood are so horrible. I get so frustrated reading about your treament by others and wish I knew how to make your situation better (and safer!). You really are an awesome person Zealia!!!

I know I've forgotten many people that I really appreciate here, but I'm outta time right now. I'd love to post more on many others, there are so many awesome people here.

Well, my lovely boyfriend is a vegan-in-transition, so I can talk about these issues with him, but all my family & friends are of the meat-and-cheese-eating variety... And while I love them, there's just something about finding others that care as much about veg*n issues as I do! The other day, someone wrote that here they felt like the little Bee girl in that Blind Melon "No Rain" video when she finds all the other Bee People, and she fits right in where she'd been an outcast everywhere else. That describes my feelings about VegWeb so well, I think... I don't feel like an "outcast" in real life, but no one seems to "get me" when it comes to vegan issues the way you all do! It feels so very awesome. :D

I really appreciate that Gotskates took a ton of time sending me lots of veg restaurants and health food stores in the area when I moved to Miami. That was so sweet!
I love anyone that gives good recipe reviews. Ashley Kimball comes to mind.
tofu is for lovershas been so inspiring, beautiful and encorugaing. Laurabbs is another vegweb I love to get to know better. baybuppy, of course, for all the incredible work she did for the swaps and being a great person. Basically, anyone who'se here for the food and the love and not the hate. :)

Oh yeah, there are so many recipes-only posters who I wish would hang out here. But I can understand why they wouldn't. :(
Ok, I know, I'll probably leave so many people out ... but I only have so much time, lol.
So, I'd like to preface it by saying that I really like ALL of you. A lot. I'm a member of another message board, and a moderator of yet another one (yes, I really do have a real life beyond online ;D ). And this is, by far, my most favorite board.
And it's because, even though I'm probably the only anarchist, and the only capitalist here ... all of you have been SO respectful, and intelligent in debating ideas with me. Most other members of other boards just resort to calling me names, or other such fun (but not very intellectual) things.
But, not here. All of you are very intelligent, well spoken, passionate, and wonderful. Of course, there is drama and some fighting here ... but, I think it's because we're all on the outskirts of society and thus very passionate about our ideas. ;)
Ok, let's see:
Cephi - I always enjoy reading your views. They're very thoughtful, intelligent, and logical.
Davedrum - I think what you do for animals is AMAZING. (And, uh ... I also think you're pretty handsome. Although, for the longest time, I thought you were holding a razor and shaving in your picture. I do now see that it's an avocado, lol).
shaolinbunny - I love your passion for your ideas and values.
Jessacita - I agree with a lot of your posts, and think you're ideas are very clear and spot on. Plus, I think you're gorgeous.
humboldt_honey - ditto on the sweetness. The username is perfect for you in that sense.
vigilant20 - I love the kitty AV, and have always enjoyed your posts on vegan foods, recipes, etc. I even agree with some of your views, which I shall not mention here for fear of opening Pandora's Box again. ;)
Kbone - I've really enjoyed discussing anarchist society with you. Really! Your questions are always intelligent, thought provoking, and challenging.
yabbitgirl - Ok, I really hope I have the right person for this (cause otherwise, I'll look stupid) ... I've enjoyed reading posts about your marriage, as there is an age gap in my own relationship (17 years) and it's good to know they can work.
baypuppy - I think you're funny, and a fair moderator. Although, I still haven't gotten to join the "warned" club. I want the yellow dot too. I told you, I'll make it worth your while. Us anarchists can get anything on the blackmarket. ;)

I've been hesitant to post here because I'm certain I'll forget to mention someone who I like and admire, especially if it's someone I haven't interacted with in a while. If I've missed you, I apologize and reserve the right to add more to the lovefest later.
Firefightress- you've always been so kind and sweet. Always making it a point to contact me and let me know when you have benefited in any way by something I've written. You're so thoughtful. Plus you turned me on to The China Study, enabling me to be more annoying to omnivores than ever before.
and_it_spoke- you are one highly funny dude! Seriously. And smart.
Meggs- just such a nice, nice, person.
Ecstatic- while we have often had to agree to disagree, I greatly respect the vigor you brought to our discussions of anarchism. You're intelligent and well-spoken.
VegHeadZealia- you have made me smile many times with your National Enquirer/Weekly World News subject headers. "I Split My Pants and I'm at Work!" Don't ever stop using those exclamation points! I also think you are very kind and nice.
Bookmama- you actually sent me happy birthday wishes although we had never even spoken before that time. How thoughtful. You and your entire family (the ones on this board, I mean) are very nice, intelligent people.

Oh, jeez... More blushing! I really like this thread for all this lovefest going on... Not just because I've gotten a couple compliments! ;) I wish I wasn't at work right now, so I had more time to compliment each & every one of the people here who I think are amazing... But Ecstatic, I agree with a lot of your posts, too--I remember one thread where you asked if we were the same person! Haha. :D It's clear that we're not, but I am challenged by so many of your ideas, and even if I previously didn't think I agreed with your stance on the issue, you are so good at articulating it that it often makes me see it in a different light & be more open-minded. :) But I do think you need to put a darn picture up so I can put a face with the name! ;)
I think it goes without saying that I hold no ill will against people I don't mention and that I like everyone for something different. However, in compliance to the rules above...
