They say that staples scar less, but my scars show that is not the case for me.  The first one was smooth only the line.  The second stapled one has polka dots flanking it on both sides and oddly bunched areas.  It could just be my surgeon sucked with cosmetics though.

I've got a scar about 14 inches long from my scoliosis surgery that starts on my front lower left side going diagonally up to the back upper left.  I had internal dissolving stiches (no external staples) so now I have this huge uneven scar that is almost 1/2 inch in places.  My skin is wierdly puckered from where the muscles were cut that looks a bit strange when I wear a bikini so now I pretty much stick to a one piece.  Not because the scar itself bothers me but because of how the skin bulges on one side and not the other.  There's also a 1 inch scar from where my chest tube was.  My sister thinks I should get a tattoo that is a needle and thread so it looks like someone sewed me there there including little blood droplets. 

I had spine surgery for scoliosis too, but the scar is straight down my back..thats weird, why is yours on your side? I had the dissolving stitches too, but you can hardly see my scar. I had bone grafts taken from the  back of my hip also though, and the scar from that is 10x worse than the scoliosis one for sure. it is like, still pretty dark and i had the surgery done three years ago. There is a tiiiny little speck of a 'scar' where there was a tube in my lower back..but it looks like a freckle. haha.

To tell you the truth...I don't know why my scar is on my side.  I'm sure the doctor told me why but I had the surgery 13 years ago so I don't remember.  My spine was rotating inward as well as curving and they had to remove a rib to chip into the area where the discs used to be.  Also my curve was toward the very base of my spine...maybe those things had something to do it.  It's funny that your tube scar looks like a speck...mine is seriously an inch long.  I must just scar funny.

Did your doctor give you a little card that has a mini x-ay on it?  They gave me one in case I set off metal detectors at the airport when I travel.  So far I've never had to use it.  I have to say it is hilarious having to get x-rays now because people seriously freak out once they see the hardware inside. 

You scar sounds so cool Mirrya.  Seriously.  I wanna see it and watch you flex the muscles that are in unexpected locations!   The tattoo idea sounds cool.

I don't think I've ever had someone take a picture of it.  Maybe I'll have my sister do it when she comes to visit me next month.

While we're still talking about poo, I almost always inspect the toilet paper between wipes. I don't know why I do this, but it is most certainly a ritual.

I was talking about this with someone else and they were mortified. I thought I was just gross. I never told anyone about that again, until now.
