For those who want details...*cough* *cough* Capture!*cough*

So, as many of you know, I've been out of a job since March. Monday, I sent in my resume to several positions, one was for an assistant manager position for Sbarro's. I wake up Tuesday morning and check my email to see I already have a response from Sbarro's. It sounded like a scam, an out of state number, misspellings (ie Oregan), received it at 5:30 am, etc. so I hesitated 'til the evening and decided to send an email in response and if it were a real offer, they'd call me. To my surprise, less than 5 min after I click send, I get a phone call!! There was a bit of a "bait and switch" the ad I responded to said "Portland" and the place they want me in is in a suburb of on the opposite side of town that I live! But I need a job, and the commute is ONLY an hour with bad traffic, so I decide to go for it anyway.

We schedule an interview for Wednesday at 4 at this place. I schedule my day around having to be on the other side of town at 4, not to mention I psyched myself up to going out to this mall b/c it has this great li'l tea house in it!! When I get out of acupuncture, I check for messages, and there's one saying the interview's been moved closer to me (yay!) and has been pushed back 'till 4:30 (boo). I call the guy back up as I needed a few clarifications, and he said to show up anytime, not to worry, the mgr at that place would do the interview. I had to ask for the name of the interviewer. Thankfully, she knew I was coming, but she didn't know I was told to come any time. I wait for an hour, in the middle of a food court, drooling over the Thai food I'm staring at. The interview goes well. I'm invited to come back Friday (ie today) for a "working interview", where I got to see them at their busiest and decide if I thought it would be a good fit!!

So today, I went in for the lunch rush. Was surprised at how organized the chaos was (this apparently is a "problem store", but still seemed better in sync compared to the "model" Round Table I was at before), and I think it could be a good fit! After the hour of observation, the interviewing manager and I go into the office to talk, she says she has enough people for her store right now (sucks) but will recommend me to be hired for the store on the other side of town (doable) and thinks I'd make a great manager (good!)!

So tentatively, I have a job!! Just finished up my celebration dinner w/ G (my b/f) and feel good about the future.

Most excellent! I am a bit paranoid myself, so I agree with your reaction to the misspelled first email. But then I have discovered most adult Americans simply can't spell anymore. I got an email from an educated friend who was telling me about her reaction to the death of a pet: "I spent the entire day balling." Ahhh....no, honey, that would be "bawling." As in crying, not having sex.

Anyway, great news about the job! Go get em!

Congrats!!  I'm glad it went well!  I used to live in Oregon, and my best friend lives in Portland.  I miss Portland sometimes.  It's a nice town.
