You are here

Too beautiful not to share.....

I came on line tonight because this is too nice not to share.

Sent to me from my friend in Arizona

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
you don't like pets, be on your way.
they share my home, my food, my space
this is their home, this is their place.

You will find dog hair on the floor,
they will alert you're at the door.
they may request a little pat,
a simple 'no' will settle that.

It gripes me when I hear you say
'just how is it you live this way?
they smell, they shed, they're in the way..'
WHO ASKED YOU? is all I can say..

They love me more than anyone,
my voice is like the rising sun,
they merely have to hear me say
'C'mon , time to go and play'.

Then tails wag and faces grin,
they bounce and hop and make a din.
They never say 'no time for you',
they're always there, to GO and DO.

And if I'm sad? They're by my side
and if I'm mad? they circle wide
and if I laugh, they laugh with me
they understand, they always see.

So once again, I say to you
come visit me, but know this too..

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
you don't like pets, be on your way.
they share my home, my food, my space
this is their home, this is their place..

Anyone can buy an animal...it takes a hero to rescue one.

Now back to some much needed computer free time.  :)

Aw, jeez... I want a doggie!  :'(  (as much as I love our cats...)

Beautiful, inspiring poem. Thank you for sharing, Di.

"When I consider the behaviour of the dog, I conclude that man is the superior animal. When I consider the behaviour of man--I confess, my friend, that I am puzzled." -- Ezra Pound

God created the dog to teach us that unconditional love and acceptance ARE possible. He created the cat for two purposes: to give woman the pleasure of caressing a tiger, and to teach man his relative unimportance in the world. -- Yabbitgirl

Yabbitt, you are wise beyond your years  :)

Thanx for posting this Di....truer words were never spoken in this house. I spend a lot of time breeding dust bunnies....errr, I mean sweeping dust bunnies but wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you for sharing this poem.  I am going to send it to my BF's family.  They have 12 dogs, all rescues.  Sometimes there are grips that they can't have people over the house because of all the dogs, but his mom just says "we have animals, that is what we chose, I wouldn't change it."

okay, so I hatehateHATE four line, a a b b  rhyme scheme poems (also a b a b).......but this just too beautiful.  Anyone who's had doggies knows exactly what they're saying here.  We only ever had 2 dogs at a time growing up, but our house and yard weren't that big, either...so it was a "dog's home" for sure.

people come over, sit on the couch, and leave with dog hair all over their butts.  they'll live.
all that barking?  eh, it's just part of their language.
those smeary marks on the living room window, all in a line at about the same level?  yeah, they like to hop up on the couch and see what's going on/who's at the door.  their noses are wet.  so sue me, I'm just not going whip out the Windex every few hours, okay?
yup.  it's a pain the ass carrying this 40 lb. bag of dog food.  whatev, anything for my doggies.

I especially love that part near the end....dogs care about you and always know how you're feeling.
Sprocket and Jake always knew when I was sick or sad, and would actually come running if they heard me crying.  they always snuggled up with me to make me feel better....

oh gosh, I'm actually getting teary-eyed now....thanks a lot Di!
