Just remember  it's okay to disagree- you just have to find something that you both agree on if it had anything to do with that.

Good Luck.

i'm sorry! :( but if it makes you feel better i'll tell you a pathetic break up story from last week.

so dan and i dated for about a month. at first we talked on the phone for like 4 hours each day. everything was going great for about the first 2 weeks. then, he just randomly didn't call me for a week. i was getting really paranoid. then, i called him and we talked for about 20 mins and he said he would call me back and never did. i called about 4 days later he was supposed to call me back and never did. 3 days later, at 9:45 he was "sleeping". then he didn't answer. i went to check his myspace and his little profile box said "single" and i was off of his top 8. pathetic as hell. he's 18, doesn't have a job, doesn't drive, and is going to be a junior.

PiP, read about my "disaster date" in that thread...maybe Dan just doesn't have anything more to say. Or offer.
We intelligent women can be reeeeeaaaally intimidating, I know from experience. ::) ::) :P
I have actually been told by Spanish women that I shouldn't talk about my studies and interests because "men don't like smart women." Oh really. Bye then!! ;D

I suppose some guys are like that. Not me. I could never be with a silly or stupid woman. I find intelligence extremely attractive. I need to be able to have a conversation with someone if I'm going to spend a lot of time with them.  I always liked "good" girls with high intelligence. I guess I always felt that if you can get a nice, smart girl to love you then you must have some substance, must be doing something right. Anyone can get a dumb, slatternly woman eating out of his hand. Where's the challenge in that?

Chickpea and PiP, sorry to hear about your guy troubles! Some guys just don't know a good thing when they have it. And PiP, that was INCREDIBLY low of your bf. How immature.

This is a really funny video from the guy who did the "Shoes" song ("oh my God, shoes"). It might make everyone feel better about the times when guys have been true boneheads (no offense to the wonderful guys out there, especially on VegWeb, who usually outnumber the boneheads). The song starts about one minute in:

chickpea i'm sorry...relationships are seriously MAJOR pickle sitiuations...i love ho guys get me soooo giddy but so easily they can "ruin" my mood or day..

here's my odd situation:
this guy and  started haging out a LOT at the end of last semester...so at the end of shool we still kept contact,he'd call and text etc. Then one weekend he came down to visit me...well his friend had a party and he wanted me there...so of course i went. When i got there he introduced me to all of his friends (they knew who i was bc i guess i was mentioned) then he spent the whole night with me.ignoring everyoe else. I then left to go to a friends house and he texted me saying he wished i could stay and he could spend more time with me..so i turned around (friends dropped me off) and we spent the srest of the nightwalking to the beach and cuddling. After that...NO CALLS. now we're back at school awkwar as ever and of course....

i still want him.  :o

relationships/potential relationsips....all pickles.

things will get better chickpea..they are bound to. :)

Dear Females Of The Species,

As a representative of the male half of the species, I humbly apologize.

There are many among us who are dumb. Dummy dummy dum dums, if you will. Still others are stupid, obstinate or downright silly.

And oftentimes our genitalia gets in the way of crucial decision making skills.

However, there are a fair share of good blokes out there. We tend to be respectful of female of the species, and actually consider them equals.

Chin up and take no crap.

Prettyin_Punk never care about someone when they didn't care about you.

I was talking to this guy like everyday you can say for about two weeks recently. All of a sudden he stops he didn't write maybe for about two weeks. He just wrote me the other day. I didn't write him once when he was missing in action and I'm not going to write him now. My attitude is you want to write write if not so be it. It shows how much you care or I should say interested.

Not sure if Nice Guy member #346,821 will agree with me but looking back on my years on this planet I think a small portion of the rude behavior is genetic but with most guys it is learned behavior. They either have a father or brothers who taught them to treat women this way or they watched them treat women this way.

Learned behavior can be undone, but good luck with that, probably easier to move on.

Also for those of you who have sons or will have sons ( I have daughters) teach them respect, I hear Aretha in the background, for women right off the bat. Do not let your husband, friends or family brush it off as "boys will be boys" if they show disrespect for for girls on the playground, stop it right there.

I think there alot of great guys out there just a very few are bad. I think there are some men out there who walk like gods on this earth.

I'll give you a couple of examples.

I was walking somewhere going somewhere specific with my kid. And lo and behold what do we see in front of us a loose doberman eating something on the street. (I don't think it was a rotweiler).

We quickly duck into this auto shop that was very near. I ask the guys "do you know who's it is?"
One of them walks with us calls to his neighbors to take the dog in and he walks right with us down the block making sure we are okay.

Another story this just happened recently too it was on the news a teenage girl a woman (I don't remember what) jumped in the docks to take a swim somewhere. A shark grabbed her (not a great white though). She was in the sharks mouth I believe they said. Her boyfriend and his buddies jumped in and saved her.

All I can say is hail to some guys . Bravo.

I've been in a few serious relationships.  Looking back, I can say thank GOD we ended up breaking up, even though I didn't feel that way at the time.

Another relationship ended in early December, but he and I have started talking again.  I think the split was actually a good thing because it made us both realize what we have.

I guess what I'm saying is that you learn something from every relationship you're in.  Also, as was said before, everything works out for the best.  I'm sure all us scorned women will meet lovely guys from the Nice Guy Club as a result of these painful breakups.  ;)

Oh, I agree. Should I ever have a son (daughter, also - girls rule!), respecting women will be the default setting. I come from a family of strong women, as does my wife.

And on the learned behaviour front, I'd like to invoke a related tidbit. Sure, your guy may goof up. Big time. But if he can recognize, admit and learn from his mistake(s), well, then you might have a guy wou can work with. And grow with. That last one is key.

But the "Sorry, pamper, repeat offending behaviour, sorry, pamper, repeat" thing... should be a warning sign. That's it's more about control of the relationship than having a relationship.

We all need to start a vegan relationship advice column.

We'll do it "3 Word Story" style... :)
