Update on P's injury
Some of you know that my husband, P, had a bike accident and hurt his shoulder pretty badly on Friday. He's been taking it easy (but still going to classes), and he's had it in a sling (and been in a lot of pain). We thought he had separated his shoulder.. Well, he had an appointment to get an X-ray today, and it turns out that he BROKE HIS COLLARBONE! :wow: In a way, (according to the Doctor), this is better than a separation b/c the break can heal 100%, but with a separation..the shoulder will never heal all the way. He broke the bone in a very rare place (the thicker part near the shoulder, and not the thin part near the neck), but he did not tear any ligaments! This is apparently quite miraculous. Even though we didn't properly self-diagnose the injury..we have been doing the correct things, and he just needs to continue to do those things. It should heal completely in 5 weeks, and be pain free in 2 weeks. He was told that his is one of the most painful breaks (probably right up there with my femur break!). He is doing better though, and it's good to know all of this info.
Thanks for all the well wishes! :)
It's good that you guys were taking the proper precautions!
Tell Patweas to get better!
:)
That's good news?! Now that you have a diagnosis you're dealing with a known quantity. It's good to hear that it's something that will heal completely (if he keeps doing the right things) and he knows that the pain will subside in a couple of weeks - even if it feels like years.

Yep. I think it's good news..I'm feeling better about it......
Nah, I think he's feeling better too. He's at school all day today, and I'll be at work before he comes home! :-\ But, I think it's just good to know..and it can be dealt with!
I am so glad he has a diagnosis now and is feeling better!
Glad to hear it's nothing serious that requires surgery or anything like that. I hope he feels better soon. :)

wow, that's intense. i am glad to know he is kind of ok! and what the doctor said about the break is very very true. i've had my share of injuries that can just keep reoccurring. so obnoxious.
Ouch! Y'all are reckless with the bone breaking.
I'm glad he's OK! I hope he's feeling better soon. :-*
Sorry to learn about P's injury, but very good news that "conservative" treatment is all that is needed. In my experience, when it comes to medical procedures, "less is best!" Great news that no surgery required. Hope he is back on the bike soon. :)
im glad of the good news. Phew! ;)b
i hope this wasnt his high-five arm. Cuz man, he will have to learn to be ambidextrous with his high fiveing and that is some *serious* skills to have to learn!
ahemsconesahem. :-*
