What are you pretending not to know?

i saw the question posted on another forum i lurk around, thought it might be interesting to post here. not necessarily to get answers (though it'd be interesting to hear) but kinda just to make yah think....

as for me, on a daily basis i pretend not to know customers are outright lying when they call in to verizon wireless customer service and act like they don't know where download charges on their bill came from

... and I still manage to do classical singing.

What is "classical" singing?

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure. :D Classical is probably the wrong word - I mean the sort of thing you expect to hear a choir singing. Only solo.

wassernixe, I  having a learning disability it is not the end of the world . Finding out when you are older (i.e not a child) can make it more difficult but it is still possible to overcome it. I have a learning disability and have graduated from university with very good grades, most people didn't believe I had one. I am not sure it makes life harder so much as it makes it different. Studies have shown that people with learning disabilities do not have any kind of deficit as far as intelligence goes they simply think differently and process information differently which is why the normal way of learning and processing and performing are difficult.

If you do in fact have a learning disability I recomend you get a psychological assessment to determine in what area your disability lies. I found out that mine affects my short term and working memory which makes remembering things very difficult. Once you know the difficulty is you can start finding ways to work around or even with it. I have to write everything down I do memory exercises and have a tendency to repeat things back to people when given instructions.

Musicologist poking her dorky nose in here! You mean art music or common practice music--  this is scholarly music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and turn-of-the-century; it does not include popular music, most folk tunes, musical theater, etc.

I do that too! Hooray for a good explanation, I never know quite how to explain it so thanks.
And wassernixie, definitely not the end of the world...ADD over here and doing just fine :)

I'm pretending not to know that my last exam ever is tomorrow morning.

What is "classical" singing?

Cantatas, chorale singing, musica sacra (Gregorian or polyphony), opera or operetta.
Bach, Haydn, choral hymns, like that.

Shape-note singing is a classic form but not considered "classical" by the snobbish.

Hey, the wise person is the one who knows they need guidance and gets it. There's nothing wrong with being excited about that. Good wishes for a positive encounter and rapport coming your way.

The smell of breastfed baby poop.  It isn't really bad, just a bit...odd.  They say by 2 months old babies only poople a few times a week.  I say: a WEEK????  I would be happy if my baby only poople a few times a DAY.  I HAVE to switch to cloth diapers.  But to start out they are expensive!  Sure, the old fashioned, pieces of cotton cloth with plastic pants is cheep, but also gross.  I want those Fuzzy Bunz which cost about $17 a diaper.

lyle just went from pooping about 10 times a day to just one big one. id rather have the 10. the big one oozes out! his diet hasnt changed either-still just mommies milk!
we are using the old style diapers and they are great! we dont have plastic pants, but use the covers that are cloth like-they are called whisper wraps. you can get those for around 10 a piece or less and you only need about 6 of them.  we also use a snappi to hold the diaper together-no pins. no problem! i like these better than the all in ones like fuzzi buns that you mention

remember Sariea, weight can change SO easily...weight "problems" (if they are really problems) can be fixed.
Endometriosis is the trickier opponent.

Sariea. That sucks. Forget the weight. Take care of yourself. 140 is NOT fat, girl. Get your health together, and you're body will fall in line. Hugs.

We are weight buddies! I weighed myself yesterday and was 140. I can't even pretend to know your situation but I like the fact that we weigh the same anyway :)
