October 1st is World Vegetarian Day. And I guess October is Vegetarian Awareness Month. Anyone got any good plans for the day? or the month for that matter :)

No real plans at this point but FYI for the VegNews and Vegetarian Times subscribers or purchasers...the current back covers of both magazines are posters to put up wherever. There are cutting lines along the edge. The one in VT has two choices. I've put the one from my VegNews on the bulletin board in our staff break room. Big whoop! No comments from anyone--not that I expected any. Since I'm the only veg*an on staff, everyone should know who posted it.

A local Vegetarian restaurant is making a schmancy, sit-down vegan dinner, so I made a reservation....but I'm going by myself! What an adventure!
At night it becomes......Club Passim! When the kitchen closes, they have incredible musicians come and perform. I'm blessed, I know!

We should all make one specific veggie dish and we all have it on that day. Or maybe make a toast to vegetarianism with a non alcoholic drink at a specific time on that day.

I'm going to put up that poster from the back of Vegnews somewhere where lots of students can see it. I bet Wild Oats has something going on, I'll check out their calendar.

Celtkat - I think I may have been a BVS member several years ago, but have since lapsed. Now I just like Veggie Planet and I adore Club Passim.
LucidAnne - how about you owe me coffee sometime when I head your direction to visit my farmer friends from undergrad and then I'll owe you dinner at VeggiePlanet when you can get your buns to Boston...we'll make it work, I promise. But not until closer to Thanksgiving - I'm swamped at work until then!!

November 1 - World Vegan Day (on the tail end of October)
ha. nov 1st is also all saints day. appropriate.
as for me, i plan on being aware all month. (in accordance with custom.) i wonder if they'd give me the day off work on behalf of ethical beliefs? ::) nobody there really knows what vegan is, so maybe i'll tell them we have some big meeting. (with 2 e's.)
also, this time of year the food donation bins start popping up. guess i'll make an early donation in honour of the event. probably won't be used to make vegan food, but i'm just happy i can afford to make the choice for myself. it really has meant so much to me.

I would agree, although, due to the loyalty issue of being a November baby... They're tied in my book.
