Your New Year's Eve?

So 2008 is coming to a close. I hate hate hate New Year's. Hate it. It's always a bust and I'm a pretty pessimitic person so I often do not feel that the coming new year brings good things with it; just more of the same. So tonight, I will have a beer, a Gravol, some junk food and a good movie. I will kiss my boyfriend at midnight and I will go to sleep. Not alot of crazy-ness, but this is how I like to spend "special nights".

What are you all up to? Parties? Dinners? Going somewhere special? Visiting family/friends? Renting an oldie but a goodie? Tell us what you're doing!!

During my 20s, my friend's birthday was on either the 31st or 1st (I can't remember anymore) and we went out to a club every year with a group of people.  Then in my 30s I spent New Year's Eve at my friends house and we'd drink, eat and play card games (holla, lubi!).

As a commuter, I go to bed early.  Now when I go to bars with my friends I inevitably take a nap in my car at some time during the night.  None of you are surprised.  I guess it's good that I live hella far away from my friends, so I'll be at home.  Alone.  I'm looking forward to it.  Especially since I feel ill and would very much like to puke right now.

HH, I'm cracking up cause I just read this and then my friend called and said, "don't get her too early cause I gotta take a nap so I can stay awake til midnight"

So, the apartment is clean.  Lots of liquor, people are en route and I'm already a little tipsy here with my friends Eddie Money, Axl Rose, Rick Astley et al.  Reliving those college days that ended all of six months ago and loving it!!

What better way to ring in the new year than to RickRoll everyone!

Hubby's feeling a little under the weather so taking it easy for now. In a few hours we'll mosey on over to our favorite bar, which is having its usual wednesday drink specials (cheap imports and microbrews) and no silly overpriced New Years party. Our good friend will meet us there.

We travel on New Years a lot, and already have Disney World and Times Square under our belts. This is our first new years in a new state, so spending it in a favorite watering hole with our closest friend in these parts of the town sounds great to me!

I am eating black eyed peas and rice salad...in hopes that there is something to this good luck food thing.  I gave myself a facial.  I am wandering around the place in my most comfortable pajamas....the ones I really should throw out, but they are just so comfy.  I am taking a break from watching Teeth...saw it posted earlier and it is kinda funny/weird.  I am hoping MDV is feeling ok and not in a lot of pain.  I am quite content tonight really.

If I started black eyed peas cooking now, they just might be done before midnight...I thought they were traditional, I didn't realize they were supposed to be good luck. But then I'd have to wash the pan, not to mention eat that late. Bad luck makes life more challenging, anyway!
I almost went to the store to buy something bubbly (I was thinking apple juice, since drinking alone really isn't healthy for me), but decided to not spend money. I'll probably go out near midnight to see if anyone is doing fireworks...
Oh, and I missed the leap second today, sadly. Somehow I thought it was going to be at midnight everywhere, but it was at midnight in Europe, so like 3:30 here. Sad day. I wanted to see 11:59:60.

I flew to FLorida with all my boys and we surprised my mother, who had no idea we were coming. She was DYING to see the baby. She was so excited when we just walked in at 10 PM!!!

L2A that's so sweet.

Niall and I went to the pub for 2 drinks just because we felt it was new year's eve and we should do something special.  It was starting to become busy-ish, so we came home at about 10.30pm and then watched the London fireworks on telly whilst drinking some champagne.  It was really nice spending new year just the 2 of us.

Normally we go out and get horrendously drunk at a party or something - Niall is Scottish so Hogmanay/New Year's eve is a very big deal for him.  It was really nice to spend it quietly for a change.

I went to Buffalo to be with my bestest of bestest friends from college.  It was funtimes and merriment.  I drank entirely too much wine and told her mother, during a game of Uno, that "karma's a bitch, Mrs. Ellis!"  Ohhhh goodness.  We also watched Mamma Mia.  *swoon*

Oooh Shelloid (yay! You're back!) anyway, London was where you got the extra second, wasn't it?

That is just interesting to me for some reason. I wonder if it showed up on digital satellite clocks and such.

LOL, KMK.  I want to visit Buffalo. Is Mama Mia a good movie? It looks good, but I've only seen it on stage downtown.

Yes we got an extra second - but therefore didn't everyone else too?  I just assumed everyone got it.

I love it, but I have an insane love of musicals.  It was funny and good times.  Lots of famous actors.  I liked it.

I have just found out today that Mamma Mia is the film that has sold the most copies in the UK ever.  Apparently there has been enough DVDs sold for one in every four houses in the UK to own it.
I have never seen it.
